I’m happy that ‘my’ ccTLD is very cheap, less than 4 EUR for reg/renewal. And it’s trusted by all mail providers as well. I wouldn’t use any of those novel domains for anything that’s remotely important.
Not bad, $6.40 / 5 years, $12.80 / 10 years.
Might grab one to use privately for testing, development, and some self hosted apps (NextCloud, FreshRSS, Bitwarden, ...).
IMO a short with meaning .cyou domain (like firstname.cyou) still looks better and easier to remember than a random-6-to-9-digits.xyz assuming all the numbers that mean something and/or easy to remember are already taking.
Are there any concerns regarding this TLD? Other than that mail might be blocked or considered as a spam by some providers, because in my case I don't care for email for this domain.
In over a decade, the . COMs I held turned out to deliver the best value.
Everything else has seen price surges. (especially new vanity domain TLD)
You can almost always find a transfer promotion that saves 1 dollar minimum every year if you want to go that route. Else cloudflare is rock bottom at-cost pricing.

Which ccTLD is that?
.nl (it’s controlled by a nonprofit so that’s why it’s not too expensive). A .de is very affordable too.
What's the cheapest TLD renewal you have seen?
0.65 USD .cyou at Alibaba Cloud (but since they are involved in some shady business [1] and have terrible reviews [2][3][4], personally I'd opt for the already suggested Porkbun)
What TLD would you consider using?
if money were not an issue, I'd go for com, otherwise:
.cyou (ca. 1.3 USD at Porkbun)
.feedback (ca. 1.5 USD at internet.bs)
.stream/.review (ca. 2.70 USD at porkbun )
.ovh (ca. 3.5 USD at ovh.com)
If I use something like .cyou ($1.28/year) will I have problems with email, etc?
I don't think so...
https://icannwiki.org/.cyou They are China based.
Nope (I don't think that icannwiki is up to date).
The registrar is Shortdot, originally from Luxembourg[5], now a British company[6].
Those domains used to be actually unusable without paying another "extra fee" (something like 700-800 USD/year) to be able to delegate or administer DNS entries. The option was called "self-service domain". This was a couple of years ago, and from a quick check at both internet.bs and nic.feedback it seems it's still the case.

If you're in the EU, or know 'someone' who is , got an e-mail from ICDSoft yesterday to say they're running the EURid promotion again until end of Sept. €10 (+tax) for 10 years for a .eu domain.
Special Price for 10-year .EU Domain Registrations
Date: September 21, 2020
Dear Partners,
We are happy to inform you that EURid, the global registry for .EU domains, is running a new promotion. For a limited time, 10-year registrations of new .EU domains will cost only 10 EUR. We are passing the special price directly to all new registrants in accordance with our fair pricing policy for domain registrations.
A .EU domain name is more likely to be available than a .COM one, allowing new registrants to register shorter and more desirable domains. You can now purchase a .EU domain for 10 years for only 10 EUR from your Account Panel > Order > Order / Transfer Domain. The special price will be valid until September 30, 2020.
To register a .EU domain, you have to provide a valid address in a country in the European Union. So, if you are based in the EU, or you have clients from there, hurry up and register as many .EU domains as you need.

Is there any kind of address proof required or can i just use a vpn?
@codelock said:

No proof requested, you just have to assert the EU address you give is yours OR that you're an EU citizen. Don't see the need for a VPN, as EU citizens are entitled no matter where they live.
EURid are under instruction to pull .eu domains from UK registered entities when the UK crashes out from its temporary membership extension just after Christmas, but I can't see them practically being able to police anything retrospectively for non UK addressed registrations.
However, as always, caveat emptor if you're being economical with the truth.
You may register a .eu, .ею or .ευ domain name if you fulfil the following criteria:
*You represent an organisation established in: one of the European Union Member States; or Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway.
*You are an individual: residing in one of the European Union Member States; or residing in Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway; or a citizen of one of the European Union Member States.
Uh, sorry, stability being? Could you please elaborate - perhaps any of the following?
A: the domain still being available after 2 years? B: the domain still being cheap after 2 years? C: the registrar being consistently cheap - tracing TLD owner's prices (=if the wholesale price goes down, the registrar also makes it cheaper, same with a price hike) D: (other)?
A: well TBH I do not expect any of them to disappear soon. B: I would bet that ovh will still be among the cheapest. It's already been out a while, consistently cheap + they are the operator so no middle men getting their cut here, and finally, I believe they do understand that since it's technically an advertisement for their company, it's mostly the low price vs. other TLDs that makes it atractive.
On the other hand, cyou's regular renewal price on Porkbun is already around 4 USD, stream and review regular renewals are over 21 USD. C: Cloudflare is guaranteed to be the cheapest (downside is, they don't have as many TLDs as Porkbun and co., plus ccTLDs seem to be missing too...)
inb4 $3.88: I was specifically referring to regular renewal pricing - as far as sales go, Porkbun's current promotional renewal pricing is still below 3 USD https://porkbun.com/tld/stream

I think @jarland blocks some TLD's known for spam
Where ?
Porkbun
https://tld-list.com/
the "newer" ones are usually cheaper. unless it is a good tld.

See: https://gen.xyz/1111b
Seems OK for some testing kinds of scenarios for the long term.
I will add to ten years some days later.
Some number is meaningful and worth remembering.
For testing, I guess everyone here have lots of idling domain. Personally I have four .dev, three .com idling

If you own the domain, it's likely to be stable.
If you don't own the domain (e.g. the free
.tk
), there's no guarantee.
