IPv6 only KVM beta testers needed
Hi there,
I'd like to do some market research for a upcoming project.
I'm currently working on extending my billing panel to support KVM nodes based on Proxmox VE.
It'll be IPv6 only + NAT64 + Reverse Proxy in the beginning, at some point I might also implement full dual stack capabilities.
Despite the IPv6 only network stack I'd like to market them as "production ready" running on reliable hardware
The beta will start next week if all goes well.
I've created a form to get some feedback on the locations and plan sizes

Please let me know if you have any questions or feedback
Thanks!

For that much I buy all of them
Do you have rough pricing in mind? Kinda pointless asking what people need/wants without any price. If you gonna go cheap people gonna most likely buy bigger packages. If you gonna go expensive af because 'epic new enterprise production ready hardware' a lot of people from that form not gonna even bat an eye on your offer.
I'm not entirely sure about the pricing yet as I'm trying to find a sweet spot between affordable and still reliable/ powerful.
But I'm open for suggestions, let's take the plan below as an example, what would that be worth to you?
1 Core
512MB RAM
5-10GB NVMe with RAID 1 or 10
IPv6 + DNS64 + Reverse Proxy
1TB traffic
KVM
Thanks!

I am unable to fill the form.
I am interested in different locations (mostly Europe). I can only choose between Storage and General purpose but I might be interested in both depending on the pricing. Same with RAM, there is no real interested in a particualar RAM amount as this depends on the other specs. I might consider a small NAT KVM box just for VPN usage if there's enough traffic aswell as good peering. I might consider a bigger box if it's stable and fast.
$6/year in USA or Europe
$9/year in other regions
I guess I would be willing to pay up to ~$15 per year.
I was thinking of about 10€ for the specs mentioned above.
Should be fair I guess

The answer is always $7 ;-)
Generally start cheaper and see the traction, then launch costlier and better margin plans. It generally works and also allow exposure to your service when you needed most.

Filled in the form Now that my mrvm is currently in limbo, I'm looking for an alternative.
For these NAT/low cost VPS I'm not sure I'd be able to make use of fast storage, so if using spinning drives can lower the cost even more (or alternatively bump up the storage commensurately) that would be preferable (for me).
Agreed. Filled the form out, hopefully I can help test!
Sure, I'll send you a PM

Awesome, thanks!
Not interested in beta testing anything but filled out forum regardless. Would certainly be interesting to see a high storage ipv6 only offering ie multiple terabytes instead of <20gb ish most ipv6 only plans seem to be
yep, IPv6-only storage instances will definitely follow soon, feel free to list your "perfect plan"

Count me in.
Don't need one, But looks good! Best of luck with your venture!
I sometimes worry that I'm so correct in all I say, that there might be something wrong with me
I'm down for some beta testing and feedback.
First thoughts on the beta:
I hit the billing tag right after creating an account: 500 / server error.
When adding a new ssh key, there's some placeholder text ("Lorem ipsum...") in the dialog.
When creating a new node, the example text in the hostname edit box is "app1.v6node.com", but entering a FQDN gives an error message of "The hostname must only contain letters and numbers.". This hostname error also de-selects the plan, region, template, and ssh keys, so you have to click on those again.
The node options dialog also has "Lorem ipsum" placeholder text. I hit the node options, but couldn't see any easy way to abort/cancel. If you hit the save button with no changes, it seems to have rebuilt the entire VM? That's a bit scary!
Add domain dialog also has placeholder text.
Not seeing 2FA, but maybe I missed it?
Good stuff: ssh key auth by default with password disabled! Running an apt update/upgrade seemed really snappy, so either a fast network or nearby mirror?
Thank you for your feedback!
Yep, the text will get replaced when the panel gets launched.
I'll add another validation before rebuilding the vm, good catch!
To close the modal you can just click anywhere outside, but yea, I might add a button for closing.
I'm currently changing the networking backend, so far, DHCP and SLAAC are used for address assignment, but ill switch to a static configuration and set the addresses via cloud-init

Anyone wants to give the reverse proxy a try?
Comes with zero config SSL by default

To be honest keep the DHCP its just better for the customer, especially on custom templates
Signature currently under construction
Sorry for the inconvenience
Not really, the primary deployment method will be cloud images with cloud init installed, so you can easily access the network configuration.
But yea, for custom templates it's a bit more work.
However, the current method is not ideal for managing the firewall ipsets, that was the primary reason for the switch

Would there be interest in a location like Sydney?
