Another Panel or cPanel alternative discussion...
Hi,
I'm an happy new customer of Nexus Bytes, with a VPS I intend to share (a little) with 2 customers/friends. For the first time in my life I am asking myself if I would need a panel and of course which one
Would you mind sharing advice?
Which one(s) should I try first?
- Free is preferred of course but I'm okay to make them pay
- VPS is and always will be under Debian.
Thanks

if it's free try HestiaCP.
but for paid, I think ApisCP and DA are the best alternatives.
maybe this analysis can be your reference

Since you mentioned debian, Keyhelp is free. But since you are a member of the family, you can get the Directadmin license for FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

+1 ApisCP @nem for paid panel
Indeed. Yet another prem panel. Unfortunately won’t work with Debian.
Did I mention that, we got that for free too o.0.

I've been mostly using Virtualmin for the last 12 years or so, and it has rarely let me down!
This is more reassuring than most of the "Reviews" or rankings on the Top X lists.
I'm going to have a lot of reading and testing of course, tonight!
But I guess it was time
hestiacp and ispconfig are the 2 open source cps very actively developed and maintained.
keyhelp if you need closed source freeware.
My reliable providers : Ramnode : HostHatch : Serverica : InceptionHosting : AlphaVps : LittleCreekHosting : NexusBytes : Hostodo
Debian? tinycp maybe
aapanel works well for me
I bench YABS 24/7/365 unless it's a leap year.
ApisCP by @nem seems really good. And though I would prefer Debian, one hardly needs to touch the distro/do distro specific stuff ... The panel has its own commands ...
Same here. I don't need it much anymore, but the few systems I had it installed on over time never had any issues to use it.
Spent a few hours trying some of these panels.... Well, I have now more respect for pro/hobbyist web-hosters
I'll still try to learn but I guess I'll redirect my customers/friends to some professional web-hosting service(s).
Thanks all for your participation!

No, just practising is fine
lowendinfo.com had no interest.
Be careful Guys... One leads to the other! And you can read this the way you want
Thanks to @seriesn I just discovered YunoHost. Not what I was looking for but a very nice platform!
Have you tried AApanel? It's based on centos but works very well with Debian. I currently have 5 servers running aapanel and I love it. The only downside is there is no multi-user support.
Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.
Yunohost is unique. Very unique. It is more like a secure app installer. While not everyone’s cup of tea, I would say, if you get used to with it, it is prem. Thanks @poisson for introducing me with this.
Be careful my friend. Many unwanted backend calls without any documentation, that panel always felt iffy.

Thanks for the feedback. I will keep that in mind might need to do a security check on my servers.

Hosted a couple thousands sites so far. Solid documentation and an active community. People have made tickets saying how cPanel needs to change to be like Virtualmin. And by the way, it's FOSS and my bug submissions have all been fixed within 24 hours.
Really top panel. Can't see why anyone would want anything else.
