Yes I should start adding that, but then I have to respond to 30 identical questions asking why with every post :), either way that situation is under review.

  • @InceptionHosting in the future, are there any plans to open new locations in USA or Germany with Clouvider network?

Due to a provisioning issue to many people got put on 1 particular node, I believe it was a v5 (there are 3 of them now actually) I am actively working to resolve it but if it is not at acceptable speeds in a few days please feel freer to open a ticket for help/migration, you might end up on another E3-1270v5 node but it will be must less densely populated (good old SolusVM)

The real-world difference between a v5 and v6 is near nothing.

Got one in NL, haven't had any active service with @InceptionHosting for years, but this just confirms the reputation. The performance is absolutely stellar.
However, latency to some ISPs could be a bit lower, routing isn't quite ideal. One example is T-Mobile NL (AS13127), I'm getting around 36ms to T-Mobile ADSL2 and I would expect around 22ms instead.

     1 185.193.158.1 (185.193.158.1) 10.487 ms 11.270 ms 11.272 ms
     2 194.127.172.7 (194.127.172.7) 2.794 ms 2.800 ms 2.827 ms
     3 194.127.172.4 (194.127.172.4) 0.315 ms 0.321 ms 0.308 ms
     4 et-0-0-41.cr4-ams2.ip4.gtt.net (154.14.30.81) 0.458 ms 0.454 ms 0.434 ms
     5 ae6.cr0-cph5.ip4.gtt.net (89.149.182.101) 17.704 ms 15.687 ms 17.694 ms
     6 ip4.gtt.net (87.119.98.86) 15.065 ms 14.971 ms 14.952 ms
     7 ams-core-2.bundle-ether1.tele2.net (130.244.205.179) 18.748 ms 18.717 ms 19.114 ms
     8 gbg-core-1.bundle-ether14.tele2.net (130.244.75.183) 18.172 ms 18.474 ms 18.435 ms
     9 ams-core-2.bundle-ether1.tele2.net (130.244.205.179) 18.356 ms 18.744 ms 18.711 ms
    10 130.244.21.86 (130.244.21.86) 21.617 ms 18.512 ms 18.557 ms
    11 212.53.19.130 (212.53.19.130) 18.683 ms 18.665 ms 212.53.19.134 (212.53.19.134) 21.764 ms
    12 ipx-14x-173-82.adsl2.static.versatel.nl (82.173.14x.x) 37.740 ms 38.687 ms 40.087 ms

Similar results to the AS13127 IP used by OVH smokeping (62.58.50.4), 19ms compared to 3ms from Dronten. O2 DE (AS6805) could also be a tad lower (+5ms compared to Dronten).

Other than that, thank you for the amazing offer!

The problem here is that Tele2 NL is singlehomed behind Tele2 Sweden. That’s no tier 1 network. So they don’t have peering in place with tier 1 networks at all of their pops. In this case, traffic routes through Copenhagen and Goteborg apparently.

Don’t know if they peer with Telia or one of Clouviders other transits in NL. This is probably not the optimal route.

The good news is that the old Tele2 NL network is being discountinued. T-Mobile has transit from CW and Level(3).

Thank you all for the orders, the sales have now come to an end, I will do an assessment to see if there is any more available space on the spare nodes for next week or when I get time (there is a lot more time involved in this that people probably realize) :)

To pre-empt the inevitable question: I am sorry, I cannot do just 1 more.

Oh my bad, any way to get it back? :)

  • Oh, missed this thread entirely, would have taken that 45 EUR plan for the 4GB ram. Currently considering just setting up my own DA panel for my personal sites instead of using cPanel at Hostmantis. Never mind. I do have another VPS with IH but not enough ram.

Here are the instructions of IH on the LET:

Tip: Install any OS via template first if you use a host that also uses the solusvm control panel.

This (if the host has set things up correctly) will automatically enable CPU passthrough and optimal driver sets), you can then install via ISO and keep all the optimal settings perminantly.

It is a limitation of SolusVM (reported long ago and many times) that it is not possible to set CPU passthrough as standard for ISO installations.

I agree it is ridiculous but it is what it is, for the sake of clicking reinstall > centos 7 > confirm, then power off and install from ISO you can save yourself any time requesting it in the future for new servers.

Once it is set, it is permanently set though.> >

  • I have a 1GB KVM in AMS for $1.50/month with another provider but apparently I'm too stupid to operate a virtual server on their platform.
If you re-release the €15 next month, I'll switch to Inception in London.

Assuming it's the same VPS and the provider, I will be very much interested in it. Hopefully, there is an option of VPS transfer.

Some nodes just don’t have it enabled and enabling it means shutting down all user VPS first so it’s quite disruptive.

It gets enabled now during maintenance windows one nodes that don’t have it.

if you see the cpu model and it’s not enabled then yes, if you see qemu cpu as the model then you should open a ticket
