Yes, our server colocated with Choopa has been cancelled by the sales, and they want to offer us some credit in vultr.
So much for Vultr's PMS a few months ago about how Akamai would destroy Linode by raising their prices and getting rid of customers, and yet here we are...
Doesn't surprise me, They can utilise all that hardware for Vultr "The Constant Company" at a higher profit margin, while making their support / engineering teams more centralised around Vultr / VM Hosting.
Haha, wow.
Take the credit and colocate elsewhere.
Yikes, they haven't offered a monetary refund, only credit on Vultr? which is essentially useless to someone that colocates hardware...
Yes, only credit on Vultr, we don't need that haha.
Just had a message from them:
Hello -
This is David J, from The Constant Company. Allow me to clarify what is going on for anyone who is currently a hosting customer on Choopa, ReliableServers, or UnmeteredServers.
There will be no changes and no downtime to your existing hosted servers, IP addresses, or other add-on services. We are simply consolidating billing and moving you to the Vultr control panel. Going forward, you will receive one monthly consolidated Vultr account bill, and have the added benefit of being able to deploy new cloud or bare metal servers easily in the Vultr control panel. Vultr is now the world’s largest independent cloud computing platform, having served over 1.5 million customers globally from our 25 cloud data centers around the world.
If you would like to get a head start, please create a free account at Vultr using the same email address as your current Choopa, ReliableServers or UnmeteredServers account, and we will coordinate the administrative change in the billing system with you. This change will not impact your service or result in any downtime.
If you have any questions or concerns, please submit a support ticket and we will be happy to address them.
Thanks!
The Constant team
I don't get the business model? Why would people not just sign up with vultr directly?
Choopa, ReliableServers, and UnmeteredServers iirc are a lot older than Vultr so it mainly consists of legacy clients. Also, they all offered different types of dedicated servers & colocation services.
It seems like just the panel is moving and other service remains the same?
Either vultr has higher profit margin or simply higher growth prospective.
