I received the following email from info@m.uptime-monitor.io, claiming that the free plan of UptimeRobot will be discontinued on March 23, 2026 and that I should switch to a paid plan at uptime-monitor.io.

This already looked suspicious to me because:

The sender domain is m.uptime-monitor.io
The website uptime-monitor.io looks generic and somewhat AI-generated
I have not seen any official announcement about discontinuing the free plan

To verify this, I contacted the chatbot on the official website of UptimeRobot. The response I received was:

“That email did not come from us. The domain ‘uptime-monitor.io’ is not associated with UptimeRobot - this appears to be a fraudulent email attempting to impersonate our service.
Our official domain is uptimerobot.com and our legitimate emails come from @uptimerobot.com addresses. We have no plans to discontinue our free service.
Please do not click any links or provide any information to that suspicious sender. We recommend marking it as spam and deleting it.
Our free plan remains available with 50 monitors and we continue to support it alongside our paid plans.”

I have just discovered something much more concerning: I was able to log in at uptime-monitor.io using my actual UptimeRobot credentials.

This makes me seriously worried that I may have fallen into a credential harvesting / phishing trap. If this site is not officially affiliated with UptimeRobot, then it appears to be actively collecting real user login data.

If anyone else received this email, please be extremely careful and do not attempt to log in there.

At this point, I strongly recommend that affected users immediately change their passwords on the official UptimeRobot website and enable additional security measures if available.

So this strongly suggests that the email is a phishing attempt.

I’m posting this here to ask:

Has anyone else received this email?
Has anyone investigated uptime-monitor.io further?

Great Email Deliverability

Mail is sent via our own spam filtering outbound relays to retain our clean sender reputation and make sure the mail we send ends up in the recipient's inbox. We’ve built a sufficient reputation with large mail providers in the last few months and feel confident in our ability to deliver your messages.

Our default sending limits are 300 emails/hour per domain. This isn’t a service for bulk mailing, marketing emails, etc - it’s a primarily inbound business/personal email hosting service.

No Per-Mailbox Costs, Easy Administration

Your domain administrator access allows you to easily add, impersonate (login as), and manage your users. We don’t limit mailboxes so you can create as many as you need without increasing your bill.

Technical Details

CraneMail nodes use ZFS-backed storage with mirrored NVMe storage for mail. Offsite backups are taken daily for disaster recovery purposes only - not individual account restores or accidental email deletion (use the Email Archiving feature!). Backup frequency will increase in coming months. 10 gigabit networking for fast uploads/file sharing.

Someone is sending spam using my domain name

Lets call my domain name mdn.com for simplicity.
Every day (last 5 days), I am getting bounced mail delivery errors in my spam folder (I have catchall enabled for mdn.com).
The bounced mail is due to spam messages being sent 'supposedly' from random_name@mdn.com and all of them are in Japanese (something about iphone).
So could this cause mdn.com's reputation for email delivery to be affected ?
Also is there anyway to 'restrict' this sender from using mdn.com ?
I already have SPF, DKIM setup for mdn.com

Alternatives regarding email for VPS with bad reputation IP

Hi all,
During last year's memorable BF/CM/flash-deals festival, I snagged a (well, actually more than a single) nice deal from a (plural) well-regarded provider.

The VPS has been put to good use idling over the past few months, until I put a website/mailserver on it for my sister. Now it turns out the IPv4 that came with the server is "sub-optimal" for actual use; it (and the whole /24) is listed by SpamRATS.

The IP is not eligible for removal from SpamRATS, as it is on their "worst offenders list". The result is that mails from her server are bounced by major mail providers (and thus mostly anyone who doesn't run their own infrastructure won't receive her mails).

What are my options at this point?

The provider offers a new IP for a small fee, but that IP shares its subnet with suspected mass mailers / spammers. I fear a new IP will suffer the same fate before too long;
Use SMTP relay via another VPS. It probably involves some configuration on both sides; I haven't used SMTP relay for mail servers before;
Mix and match her domain on the VPS with a shared hosting account (I'm still holding on to MyW lifetime reseller package, looking seriously at @MichaelCee 's offers) and send mails through there;
Seeing OnePoundMail / MXroute mentioned, would that help out or is that a complete external mail solution?
Other options?

So far I may have been lucky with assigned IPs at various hosters, as this situation is new for me. Thank you for your input!

So I have been using OnePoundEmail / MXroute and it has been great so far.
I like their email hosting pricing (pay for storage, unlimited user & domain), plus their deliverability is great.
i'm also aware Mango Mail is similar, but have not tried it yet.
Most other email hosting i know, their pricing is counted using per user rate.

I am currently running a "market survey" for starting a new Email/DNS Provider. (Well not exactly me but someone I know.)

We have planned to roll out the Email first and then start the DNS service. I know of the complications in hosting one (we want to not be another reseller) but I need to check with the market before thinking of starting it.

Hi,

I found this could be helpful for many people looking to create multiple Plesk email accounts especially since we are getting a lot of migrations from the old Google Gsuite Legacy edition.

The script reuires a txt file where the emails must be listed 1 per line :

The script may fail if your secuity standards for your passwords are too high so you may edit that 12345
@ if needed.

By default i have aligned this at 15000M or 15G to equal Legacy Google Workspace accounts.

Email notification when someone logs in via SSH

Even if it is too late when someone else logs in as root on your server, it is good to know that NOW is the time to get working on your security.

To setup email notification, login to your server as root.
Edit .bashrc

editor .bashrc

add the following line at the end, changing “ServerName” to the hostname of your server and “email@thisaddress.com” to your own email address.

echo 'ALERT - Root Shell Access (ServerName) on:' `date` `who` | mail -s "Alert: Root Access from `who | cut -d"(" -f2 | cut -d")" -f1`" email@thisaddress.com

!NOTE! - Take notice of the ` in the code block. Sometimes when copying code from a webpage, these small characters will mess up when pasted.

Save and exit your .bashrc.

Next time someone, hopefully you, logs on as root, you will get an email about this.

This can be done for any user, you only have to make sure that the user can email out from your server.
