that's the thing. people can NOT use it, get over it. we all have stuff like that in our basement and feel bad about letting it go to waste because it might still work and such. trust me. you might get it out of your sight. it will clog another basement or movement box soon. rather take care that it gets properly recycled…

I know it hurts. but just dispose them already. ;-)

it's a rather flexible number, coming from around 50 in 20/21 I am down to about 30 now I think ;-) BF to xmas is usually the time to clean up and consolidate... this year has been pretty good for that. only 'external' VMs that is though, because I have some dedis (Hetzner/SYS) which I virtualize via proxmox and put my…

yes, they had a regular BF offer at a somewhat higher price and only one core. happy to have snagged this one instead. didn't really need it, but ya know... that's definitely a keeper for a while. already pumping data in. @ehab to be fair I didn't even notice... 2GB of ram might be on the lower end anyway to try nested…

you'd be surprised...
-
yeah, heard that before... and I guess it's fine, everyone can have their own opinions and act accordingly ;-) I'll continue enjoy collecting free games in that case nevertheless...
-
good choice! tough one though...
-
fair enough. I have no stake in that after all, so can't judge anything anyway ;-)

to be fair, it read like that happened a while back already... did the service quality decrease?
-
stay strong mate! you will live through it. it's gonna be though, but you can do it!
-
hey @Mason , sorry for bothering you here at that time - no need to respond ;-) just wanted to let you know that it seems GB changed something to the output or so. the numbers won't get displayed in yabs anymore (obviously they are there, because the link works just fine... as said, no need to rush anything, a Merry…

yeah, I can relate. however with the recent steam sales getting/feeling crappier and their move away from the pure trading card gamification towards that point based sh*t I feel less compelled to further level up on my account there ;-) PS: that said, still closing in on 1k games in library. maybe if @Mason drops a few…

to be fair it's at least one per week, often two. and during holiday season it's even one per day. also it's not just rubbish games but often decent titles. so yeah, they definitely know how to to drag people over and seem to be in that for the long run. I am collecting those since 2019 and meanwhile have 226 games in my…

woah , awesome ... I missed that a lot! let me start it off then by kindly asking for 'The Surge 2' and 'Tropico 6' please - of course the receipt for donation is coming up in a sec... (gonna send you the paypal thingy via PM ;-)) edit by @Mason: keys sent

it shouldn't though, did you check the cache stats before changing the max limit? of course regular filecache will come on top, so might have looked different... but yeah, as said before. needs to be handled with a bit of care ;-)
-
I'd say that heavily depends on your real world workload. the more RAM you can use for ARC the better simply because you can hold more data in there. however if you move a 4GB file one time and do not touch it directly afterwards it might simply clog you cache for nothing. you want your cache be hot and re-used frequently.…
-
told you so ;-)
-
I do not. or at least I make that decision carefully depending on how many VMs with how much RAM should go on there. as just said ZFS potentially consumes lots of RAM for its ARC unless you restrict it. also the system can not claim ARC back like it would do with regular filecache because it is controlled by ZFS and the…
-
and means ZFS is gonna eat up to 50% of the available memory for ARC. it does not neccessarily release that easily, so even if memory consumption for now is low, it will raise to 16GB over time no matter what. if you can afford it, that's a good thing, if you might need it otherwise you need to be careful to not lose the…

what kind of tracker is the one people use nowadays (SYS preferred) ? I had a self written script somewhere, but I guess there is enough online tools available nowadays, right?
-
you still wanna have it? I can ask for a transfer ;-)
-
to be fair I didn't really follow their thread (and am too lazy to search for it) but I am quite sure that question came up as well. If I am not mistaken this are gonna be newer systems and therefore also get newer CPUs etc. - not totally sure though and actually does not matter much for me.
-
last second buy: 2TB storage with @hosthatch in stockholm. damn FOMO. but hey... it's storage 😎
-
didn't ask yet. wanted to wait for things to calm a bit, I guess they have to sort through quite some things this morning, related to that offer...

with my (former) company we picked iubenda when GDPR was about to get serious and are using it ever since for an automatically generated privacy policy, cookie solution with blocking prior consent, also in-app eula stuff... it just works and you don't need to worry about updating shit. only if you add new integrations,…
