I think we all know the real reason why
-
So this is like a "play low-end games, win low-end prizes" type situation?

Cheers! Thanks for the recommendation. Something to consider for sure so the git commits are actually meaningful. Or perhaps a separate repo just for the iperf bot code, list of available locations, and of enabled locations.
-
Fair enough, I'll consider it. Eventually, I'd like to code up a bot that monitors the available iperf servers and if one goes down for whatever reason (and is inaccessible for X minutes), then have the bot remove the location (or swap with a working one) and commit the changes to the repo without any involvement from me.…

The only thing that could be tweaked is the number of retries. Right now I think it's set to 5, it was originally at 10, but maybe a revisit is necessary to bring it down even more (3?). For now, I'd recommend just using the -r flag, which reduces the tested iperf locations to just three instead of using the entire list.…

Totally understandable! No offense taken. I tried my best to make things as 100% clear and open as possible, but naturally that's impossible when black box binaries are involved. So to mitigate as much as possible, I defer to locally installed binaries (if available) and make the compilation steps / instructions completely…

tl;dr - shit didn't work reliably before HBB, but shit worked flawlessly after switching to HBB I'm not really an expert on this stuff and I won't pretend I know what's going on under the hood. In the beginning of YABS, there was a TON of trial and error getting things to run. I had three threads going where I was…

We do them every now and then, but not as frequently as OGF. Most holidays I'm usually tied up with family, so I can't properly oversee the festivities. There definitely is a happy balance somewhere. But can easily get everyone burnt out if overdone -- providers and customers alike. Providers come up with no-margin/at-loss…
-
In regards to ads -- We are starting a pilot soon(tm) that is kind of an ad, of sorts. How it will work is that a provider can sponsor upcoming LES Talk posts (they'll know in advance what the subject content is, excerpt, length, etc.) for a flat fee. A sponsoring host will have an ad at the top of the thread (static…

Convert2RHEL it is! :)

So let's say I have a VPS with CentOS 8 installed (which went EOL end of 2021) purely to run ApisCP. Everything else I run is Debian-based so I'm pretty much a CentOS noob. What should I do? Keep running an unsupported OS? Migrate to something else?
-
As a sidebar to this, it'd be really interesting to have a some sort of "karma" based attribute that is affected by number of comments, discussions, thanks, etc. And maybe a certain threshold would unlock certain actions or something on the forum. Just an idea without any thought into what it'd take to implement something…
-
Man that sucks... made you migrate, billed you for both, deleted the new one... wow! Best of luck getting this sorted, though I wonder if anyone else has experience this during the migration to their new panel P.S. I hope you have backups of your data, mate

Just noticed that YABS hit 1000 ⭐'s on GitHub the other day :)

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll probably go through all the popular donation platforms at some point and see if switching is worth the hassle. Right now donorbox fees are 1.5%, which won't ever be a huge amount in the end when it comes to LES donations.
-
It's possible, but after doing a quick search, LES doesn't really show up in the query except as a related search term.
-
Heh.. no worries, I don't plan on ever removing the redirect I have a slew of updates to the dark theme that have been identified with the help of @TheDP, so I expect to patch up the dark theme here soon when I can find the time. I've also been digging around in the site code quite a bit recently and feel confident that we…

Because I'm an idiot and fucked up the permissions, one sec. Edit: alright should be fixed
-
Only if you make companion youtube videos to go along with it
-
Gotcha! Thanks for the insight/input. I believe www. and talk. should already be 301's to the forum (no subdomain), so we should be set there. But I get your point if LES was to expand to something besides just a forum, we'd want that at the base domain and not the forum. Currently, I don't really envision LES trying to be…
-
That's exactly how it was in the past. Forum on talk.les and blog on base domain. But we really wanted to get away from WP and drive the activity back here rather than separating it and having to maintain two environments -- as a wise prophet once said, "ain't nobody got time for that."
-
Not yet, but I may consider adding that soon! :)
-
Shouldn't have. Screenshots? Did you have any site specific settings for lowendspirit.com? The domain was just changed to drop the talk subdomain last night. Edit: hmm... I see the text does in fact look larger on chrome for some reason (I typically use firefox). And I don't know if it's always been like that or if it's…

Agreed. Will be taking a stab at cleaning up some of the dark mode CSS soon (header color being one of the things I'd like to alter). I'll have to see what can be done about images with transparent backgrounds.
