@Ympker cheers, appreciate it! Yeah, when it's put that way it makes total sense. And if it's done right, it can sometimes work out for longer than expected (i.e. Plex Pass lifetime sub). Thanks again for the resource!
-
I'm always very wary of lifetime offers. One thing I really liked about TorGuard was that they never offered any lifetime deals. Sure, they gave literally everyone 50% off coupons, but no lifetimes.
-
I'm certainly in favor of some controlled chaos :)
-
I'm really glad I still have this, feels like a lifetime ago that I made it. 's/LET/LES/'

Crap... as a TorGuard user since 2013, this is concerning. Maybe time to look for a different VPN provider.
-
As soon as they started to try and monetize it, Google dropped a bomb. Or at least that's what it seems. Fucking NFTs...

Added a donation total tracker and monthly goal (set to $35 to cover monthly operating costs -- anything extra gets thrown into a "site improvements/development budget & future operating expenses" bucket) to the donation page.
-
Complaints: * It's not flashing. * It doesn't make me close a pop-up (or a very large and vibrant banner at the top) begging for donations every time I visit the home page. * Default donation isn't $100 every 6 months. * No crypto options. Back to the drawing board!

While I agree that they are very different in terms of interface and functionality, I feel they have enough overlapping features -- at least the main features that I could care about (could be debated) inc. no ads and background playback. But point taken, that NewPipe addresses a different need and doesn't really enable…
-
Agreed. While the Vanced app code wasn't open-source, the library Vanced used to interact with your Google account (microG) is in fact open source. And NewPipe is open-source as well :)

Pleasure to have you here and agreed 100%. Transparency is king. The current donation setup was thrown together hastily, so once I have more time to iron it out some more, I will. Initial ideas is to have a donation page that shows currently monthly goal and total donations received. Would also like to "open the books" and…

That's actually in the works. One of the tasks on my plate is migrating the content from our WP blog into the forum and just merge the two, then have all traffic at lowendspirit.com (no subdomain). Hopefully will be complete in the next week or two

Finally found where that damn receipt setting was. "Warband Collective" was the name of my old gaming group I used donorbox for and for some reason some of the old settings carried over when I set up the LES campaign. Should be all fixed now... apologies to anyone that was confused after donating and a big thank you as…

Convince DaddyMach to join us and post as many bus pics as you want ;)

This as well, the original origin story from our lord and savior, Ant. https://lowendspirit.com/hello-world/ Edit: and here's the thread when mikho and myself took over in Anthony's place: https://talk.lowendspirit.com/discussion/2577/new-admin-who-dis

Aye, I wouldn't draw too many conclusions based solely on the numbers above. The median donation is $12 and only two individuals donated above the average, so the distribution is pretty skewed. Any amount offered is much appreciated and more than I was expecting to begin with :)

Already discussed with @mikho. Setting up the cluster on dual AX101's as we speak (/s)

In about 18 hours since posting the donation link, we've amassed $705.22 through Donorbox!! Including the 3 donations that went through Paypal directly, $742.22 in donations have been racked up over the past month or so. I don't have words right now to express how appreciative I am! This will be put to good use over the…

Appreciate it, good sir! <3 Not sure I understand the .com vs .org issue. Is it because they're making money (1.5%) from people using their platform? While direct payments are indeed the best bang for the buck, Donorbox has a lot of features that make it worth it in my opinion -- i.e. multiple payment options in one place…
-
Dusting off the abacus, will post the total number of donations and donation total soon :) has been quite unexpected to say the least
-
I just set this up at Donorbox as I was just using my personal PayPal in the past. Should make things easier as I've used Donorbox for a gaming group in the past with good success. A thousand thanks and heaps of appreciation to all who donate. https://donorbox.org/lowendspirit-donations

Current plan is to introduce loot boxes, but they'll have super shittly low-end prizes. Like free 3 day shared hosting trial, one of those ancient off-white IBM keyboards (you pay shipping), and a NFT for that picture of a server in a cardboard box at FDC

The legend himself. Welcome, Sir!

(comments from wordpress post prior to migration) Kevin Apr 24, 2021 / 06:16 Thank you. The images don’t work for me anymore. mikho Apr 26, 2021 / 11:46 Thank you for mentioning, the image links were a little messed up after the move from the old platform. Should all be fixed now.

I missed the "/s", but I really hope it was implied lol

Auction thread moved to General per OP's request so that the thread shows up publicly (not just logged-in LES members). @CamoYoshi, as the visibility of the thread has changed since placing your bid, you can retract your bid if you desire. If you don't care, then carry on and good luck!
