Yeah that was the CDN I was referring to. Thanks! Will have a look :) Still, only for testing purposes. I didn't really "need" a CDN so far and I still don't need it. Just hypothetically checking my options here. Will have a look, thanks!

Nicee! Last time I checked it was Stackpath. Then again, going with Shortpixel CDN I would constantly need to check whether they changed their CDN provider and whether said provider is still GDPR compliant. May go for BunnyCDN directly (if I ever needed it).

Thanks for the feedback, mate :D DIdn't hear about PushrCDN before. Will have a look. BunnyCDN has some nice option there. So basically, I could block CDN for all people from Europe lol.. Then again, a subdomain seems somewhat more convenient to do and is what I had in mind. Funny enough, I also thought to do this on MyW,…

Oops seems like edit was too late since I also commented on functions.php :P Anyway, yeah OMGF basically does just that for me. Download the fonts my website is using locally. Very happy with it so far. Manual upload would ofc also work.

Thanks for the headsup! Will have a look :) Would be a more up-to-date and reliable solution. Does Autooptimize also download your Google Fonts to local and then exchanges remote Google Fonts references to local, or does it just remove connections/references to Google fonts (so I would still need OMGF to download the fonts…

Yeah, heard about it. Rip :/ As a web designer, this is really annoying tbh. Using WordPress, I actually have two plugins to get Google Fonts removed. For one OMGF ( https://de.wordpress.org/plugins/host-webfonts-local/ ), which scans my site for fonts used, downloads them locally and replaces registered Google Fonts that…

This sounds like the online dev/subdomain option was still the way to go. For just trying a couple things TasteWP might be even faster and more convenient. I saw you bring it up sometimes in the past. Thanks for the reminder!

Hey there, mate. Thanks for your input :) Technically, I was following the same practice like you before. Setup any demo/dev sites under a dev subdomain on my Reseller/Shared Hosting and just work from wherever I am. Definitely more flexibility here. I only recently thought about trying a local approach before and LocalWP…

I am kind of missing the Customizer in WordPress 5.9 FSE. I just created a fresh install with Local WP and the Twenty-Two theme, and I thought that the customizer is really missing. Apparently, it still shows up for themes and plugins that, in their code, require/call it. If you want to add the WP customizer manually, you…

I also think that the path WordPress is pursuing isn't necessarily a bad one. They are (likely) more and more catering to people who want an easy-to-use website builder that doesn't "lock you in" like e.g. Squarespace etc. It is more like @vyas already said: It seems the time where WordPress was "THE BLOGGING SOLUTION" is…

Thanks for bringing that up! Unfortunately, I am from Germany :/ When I last called them and asked, they said that they won't do this anymore.

I can agree. WD's have been really stable for me. All drives I used for NAS/Plex have been WD Elements so far. All still going strong.
-
Just regarding streaming from home: I fiddled forever with Plex since Vodafone doesn't give you a public IP. I am now using our FritzNAS (Fritzbox + any external hard drive) and while it doesn't have the looks from Plex, watching movies/series from remote works like a charm. Just your remote device probably will need IPv6…

That game was something else. Loved it :D I think I gifted that game (?!) To @InceptionHosting / Anthony Smith one day, years back :D If that's the case, I used BestWebHosting, (later known as) SmartHosting before they were bought out by Krystal. the performance was good and I was happy with support. Things went to shit…
