If I were looking for those specs, I would go with tinykvm.com for $15 / year. The compromise is that the (7 GB) disk is only SSD-cached. I've had a couple of these KVMs in the past, and they perform really well.
-
You might try to be more specific. The said plan (for $0.99 / month) includes only a 5Mbps connection.

Even granting (for the sake of argument) that they "knew" this, it wasn't a Ponzi scheme. In any case, if anyone bothered to read the ToS, they were aware that the conditions could change (with advance notice) at any time.
-
That's a different objection. But it still doesn't make what Google did a Ponzi scheme. Anyway, it's a natural fact of life that plans and priorities change over time. There's a web page somewhere about all of the free products that Google has discontinued over the years. But none of them could sensibly be considered a…

That blog does a bad job of saying why Google's decision to end unlimited free storage for photos is a Ponzi scheme. Google gave something for free to people. Later, they decided to end this, presumably because it was costing them too much. Where's the Ponzi scheme in this?

Debian and Ubuntu are all fine and well, but they won't satisfy those who are used to the CentOS ecosystem
-
I'll try to remain optimistic, but it's still a long road ahead
-
We'll see whether it gains and maintains momentum. Arguably, getting the ball rolling is the easy step.
-
Not sure who "we" are, but there's an enormous amount of work and expertise and quality control that go into the creation of CentOS

As @Lee said, HostDoc were engaged in a different strategy altogether. There's no reason to think that HostMantis will suddenly close up shop from one day to the next (like HostDoc did), and this will be more true once the price changes come into effect.
-
Ah, okay: a 50% discount is still pretty nice :)
-
I thought that the limit was 25%, but I may misremember. But, yeah, the 80% discount will definitely be over.

Tomorrow's (= December 4th's) offer appeared a bit early: 2 shared Xeon E5 Cores6 GB ECC RAM90 GB SAS HDD For €3,99 / month
-
Under the circumstances, you could ask for a refund if you wanted to
-
Oh, wow: 6 shared Ryzen 3900x Cores12 GB ECC Arbeitsspeicher100 GB NVMe SSD Speicher1 IPv4 inklusive At €2,99/month this won't last long! There was a typo on the calendar for a few minutes But the price of €9,99/month is still very good
-
Okay, I see: there's no VAT charged at all
-
VAT is included in the price. I can't say whether they remove it for non-EU residents.

Hmm, I see that there are "2.8K new" in dustinc's BF thread on LET. I think that I'll pass ...
-
Then don't go through the hassle. The way that such promotions work is that you can sign up and cancel a previous plan, but you can't retroactively upgrade to the promotion.
-
I signed up for a BF promotion. So far, so good -- and the control panel is nice :)

I understand :) When you get a chance, you may also want to correct the bandwidths in the links: * For KVM1536, it should be 1500 TB transfer (as opposed to 750 GB) * For KVM4096, it should be 3 TB transfer (as opposed to 2 TB)

Okay, just to make sure that I've understood correctly, if one orders USA SSD Cached KVM - Phoenix Arizona USARAM GB Disk GB CPU Cores Transfer IP4 IP6 Price Link1 40 4 1000 1 No €15 /year Link then one gets a 40 GB HDD (despite the link's saying 20 GB) and one could double this HDD to 80 GB. Is this correct?
-
Ah, okay :)
-
@AnthonySmith You may want to double-check the advertised disk sizes above for USA SSD Cached KVM - Phoenix Arizona USA. I assume that these are not yet the double-sized disks. Nevertheless: * For KVM1024, the doubled-sized disk is advertised (40 GB as opposed to 20 GB) * For KVM1536, the doubled-sized disk is advertised…

If you act like a cheapskate, don't be surprised if people tend to treat you as a cheapskate.
-
You're capable of writing many comments about a 1€ difference in price, which makes you appear like a cheapskate. Is this how you want to appear?

I'll try to answer this: these backups are intended for disaster recovery; as a user, you don't have access to these backups.
-
Yeah, you're right
-
Although @alwyzon's offer sounds good, if you like LiteServer, why not extend your budget to around €2,50/m and get their 2-GB RAM VPS? It seems odd to start a thread about less than a 1€ difference just to avoid a premium provider.

In the meantime, I can try to answer your questions. No. (I'm pretty sure no.) Yes.
