We'll get you yet! Still waiting for someone to impersonate @Mic-hael
-
Yeah, I had noticed that. I was just thinking out loud, making a general statement :)
-
There's not a small risk that trolls will adopt some well-known usernames from LET, but I don't think that the impersonation of a provider should be allowed
-
Good catch: you're probably right. Minimally, he was active on LEB in the early days. He's been on LET for a long time as well but with lengthy absences. Given his experience, I was a little surprised by his decision to start this thread.
-
Yours has slightly better scores than mine (yours has a slightly better cpu): https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/14885393
-
My UltraVPS is in Düsseldorf with slightly better scores (same cpu) : https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/14916568
-
No need to start a thread to say this, not to mention that BF is almost two weeks away
-
@seriesn (or anyone who knows) Which datacenters are used in Germany and NY? (In Germany, it appears to be Hetzner.)
-
LES, like LET, has the $7 rule for VPSes, so this is why that offer was deleted (by @AnthonySmith , I imagine). It's just that he didn't delete the quoted line as well, which applied to the deleted offer.
-
@seriesn: Is rDNS supported for IPv6 at NY?
-
Unfortunately, the line should have been deleted with the deleted offer
-
Well, it says paid yearly, and since it's in the block for the offer NVMe-SSD-Starter, I assume that it applies to that offer paid yearly.
-
And I thought that you meant this!
-
@cybertech By the way, your thread on LET was the inspiration for this one. I forgot to say this in my opening post! :)
-
An unusual VPS, that one. I wonder how they keep gourmet users under control. Also, I don't really feel tempted in light of the network and the lack of control panel (no control panel, right?).

These are scores from a KVM deal from VirMach around July 4: 1GB RAM, 1 vCore, 20GB SSD, Intel Xeon E5-2660 v2, $17.86/year. The scores are decent for the money. Interesting, aes is passed through on this KVM (which hasn't usually been the case on KVMs from VirMach, but apparently, this has begun to change). v4:…

Hmm, you think that clueless people from PRC -- or from anywhere, for that matter -- will read the rules if it's the first sticky? :o (It doesn't seem to work on LET, but granted, the rules aren't the first sticky.)
-
If I may say so, a neat feature of Discourse is that threads are automatically closed after 14(?) days of no activity, but I guess that Vanilla doesn't have this feature. The pop-up idea is good if it can be easily implemented. At the moment, LES is still too fresh to worry about necros.
-
Yeah, it's probably not the offer that I linked to, which was called Cloud-BF. And, indeed, it wouldn't be a quick SSD if it were an SSD. Who knows ... I understand :)
-
I would say that that is still a good deal three years later. I wonder whether what you have corresponds to the following offer: https://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/97638/ultravps-eu-black-friday-2016-kvm-1-cpu-core-1-gb-ram-30-gb-ssd-20-eur-p-a If so, then that's a 30GB SSD that you have.
-
I also have that VPS but with better (though not dramatically better) scores (tested at the end of October): https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/14861848 https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/483978 These differences could easily be due to one's neighbors. (I was hammering the CPU a good part of the day on Saturday, but…

The lower Kimsufi dedis have their place in the ecosystem :)
-
Hmm, interesting, I also have that VPS from IH -- I got mine on last Cyber Monday ( https://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/153921/inception-hosting-daily-deals-storage-kvm-vz-nvme-shared-part-2-updated ; it's the one for €17.50/y). But my Geekbench scores are much better than yours: v4:…

Hey, at least I waited a couple of hours before posting! But I agree that this makes me suspect! :)
-
Wow, really impressive. I suspect a fresh machine, so I wonder whether those scores will persist, but perhaps Ryzen really is that impressive.

Congrats on your my first post
