Then it would make sense to change providers, or get one reseller account (with the same, or some other provider). Related to the topic (OP): A brief introspection (helps put things into perspective, at least for me).

When it comes to cPanel reseller hosting of good quality (performance, uptime, even given resources) - I'm afraid even their new pricing (especially if you get at least a 50% discount) is among the better ones. I've got more than a full year of my plans left. So at the start of 2022, I can see what the prices, and control…
-
For all I know - no discount is honored over 50%. Think that's most you can expect. But do check with them.

John indeed. :) As far as I'm concerned, being a pessimist, I more often get pleasantly surprised. Using eastern US and London locations - they are both OK (so far). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Be4Xza1PrM

That's... brilliant! :) Just brilliant... marketing, public relations, customer trust and all. Sorry man, I really understand (being a customer as well, also with a Starter plan) - but I just have to LOL to this. What else can we do, if we can't laugh? If new prices of renewal can be calculated against the existing…

Know those hunting/working dog breeds that sometimes have their tails cut off? There's a black humour joke about a man cutting his dog's tail it two smaller increments - so it doesn't hurt as much. Well - this HostMantis pricing looks a bit like it. Both in terms of marketing, and customer sentiment. Their first price…

The announcement: https://my.hostmantis.com/announcements/143/Pricing-Changes-for-2021.html Was expecting it - could have made the announcement sooner (since the cPanel 2nd price hike announcement). Will see in a years time how much exactly will renewal cost, then make a decision. I would say that current prices are…

It seems fairly limited compared to cPanel. Can't say I like it. Not very intuitive, nor does it allow simple things - like database export/download, to name just one from the top of my head. I would bet a beer that it was designed to prevent customers from messing anything (which isn't too bad in and of itself), and to…
-
No. From what I could figure, especially for my intended use, it's more hassle (potential problems) than it helps.
-
Rakija always! It felt really bad last time I got sober. P.S. Thank you very much for the design/layout. It is some food for thought.

And we all know dentistry is just a front for the potassium smuggling operation, using pidgeons... :)

Thanks. What's your take on light-gray. Like this: https://test1.bikegremlin.com/ I personally like the black a lot more, but I wouldn't take my opinion seriously when it comes to visual design. :)
-
I meant the area around the page content. It's all put on a "black canvas" so to speak.
-
It's no rush at all. Like I said - I wouldn't trust my opinion on whether it looks good. Same goes for most of my friends. We're all "technical", but not very visual. Or just plain idiots. :) But I'd be happy to try your suggested layout, and ask for comparison/opinions on that. I suppose top menu is a good idea. But what…

Sort of a feedback request. Here's a link of a "review/feedback" for my cycling website (link should start at 945 seconds - 15:45 minutes, and the part on my website lasts for about one minute): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LxsyoG670s&feature=youtu.be&t=945 The website in question: https://bike.bikegremlin.com/ My…

Lower prices for new customers doesn't mean a provider doesn't care. Nor do lower prices for the old ones necessarily mean they care. It's business. Recurring discounts with lots of new customers can be used - similarly to even lifetime sales - as a boost in liquid funds, instead of using a bank loan or something similar.…
-
It just costs more to attract new customers, than it does to keep the old ones. That's the way it is, the way people are. You can cry about it, as an "old loyal customer". Or just be happy for getting a good quality service - that does what's needed to stay afloat, including acquiring new customers - at discount prices.…

Gay!

I doubt that SMS credits take a huge chunk of the price. It's just - people want to make an honest, decent living. If you have many websites to monitor - you could teach your friends how to do it (if you're doing it for friends, for free), or calculate the cost of tools you use (if you're charging for that as a service).…

Elementor, from what I could test, does not measurably affect the performance of pages where it is not used. So I suppose it can be used just for the landing page(s), without the need for a separate WP installation. I used some hand-written pages in combination with WordPress - it works. One can also use Publii, or similar…

My 2c on how to choose a good WP theme. More in terms of criteria and what to look for (though I did offer two recommendations - ones which I've tested thoroughly, and often choose for my use). As for the page builders. Briefly: Elementor can work nicely, seems to have a future (continued maintenance), and has loads of…

I'm a bad consumer. Didn't buy anything.

In some jurisdictions this could get you arrested for animal abuse!

If you use a smartphone (with them Alexas, Siris and whatnot), no worries: they would already have know where you've been and what you've been doing.

Not on the thread topic, but it does concern privacy: Could you share a(n idiot-friendly) way to PGP encrypt forum posts, so that only those who know my public key can read them? Preferably using a Linux running software to encrypt (and decrypt).

I know it's reddit, but I think it's worth looking into: https://www.reddit.com/r/Wordpress/comments/cyj8gr/yoast_seo_vs_rank_math_do_we_have_a_new_winner/

Not even their front page links work properly. For crying out loud! :)

Unlimited websites (with up to 5000 subscribers) for 50 dolla's one-time payment? https://appsumo.com/mailpoet-black-friday-2020/ Not sure how good their delivery is, though. Anyone tried MailPoet's SMTP service?

That's just 'cause we' poor! :)

Everything is bad. :) _I would also add that every generalization is bad - but that itself would be a generalization, so a bit of a logical recursive division by zero. :) _ It just boils down to weighing the pros and cons. For a forum, I doubt CF has more cons than pros. Potential problem that CF will probably help…

Performance issues? On average, I would say it helps more than it harms. At least from what I could measure, for my websites. Privacy? Yes - there are people who avoid using Gmail (and CF) for privacy concerns. I understand that. If CF guys figure out my LES password, it would really be dangerous. They could start liking…
-
People can't visit the forum because of CF? I've been using it for some time, had one downtime because of CF (when most of their networ/routing was fucked). But every system has problems from time to time - it is to be expected. It seems to me that, even (or especially) with the free option, CF gives a lot, and doesn't…

Why avoid CF for the sake of avoiding CF? It's free, and we aren't storing our bank account data on the forum.
