Looks pretty good! They actually now make very solid phones for the price.
-
Woa @swat4 thanks for the insights!

Staying away from Oracle right now with their Java garbage. Don't trust them right now. Same with CL - they are for profit, so I'm afraid they will pull the plug some day (or an investor will). Rocky Linux isn't ready yet, but it's the most promising. I'm in their Slack, and there's a ton of momentum. In the end, I voted…

Ideally, this ensures all resources a host has are sold at maximum price (better to sell at a loss than none at all, and you can dictate the minimum bidding price), which should theoretically maximize profits. Disable service transfers, and the second problem is solved too :)
-
Same here - I'll write about it in one of my VPS hosting adventure rants soon. Turns out ZFS has a ton of RAM caching by default. Maybe your filesystem does too. Try running top to see which processes other than KVM processes are using up most of the RAM.
-
It already exists - For my hosting service, I just use the WHMCS module + Virtualmin. What they did was like adding front end stuff on top of that, which I don't think is necessary.
-
Yeah, sounds a bit excessive to me. They could have built basically just a front end to integrate with Virtualmin. Literally a team of five could do it in six months.
-
You must be the coolest guy on Google scholar, haha. I am inspired by your interestingness
-
What location?
-
Oh shoot. Guess I need to get another domain, haha :) Later though. If people like the site, maybe :)
-
@seriesn already took that!
-
I was like, which one should I get. Then I was like, it's literally only like $10 extra per year. My time spent thinking about/regretting the decision would be worth more that, haha. Very good idea! I'll get some deals prepared for April 1st :p for one of the sites. For the other, input the name of a host, and you can see…
-
Huh, interesting! I can't imagine why anyone would get the EX/PX products over an AX product, so those were on the way out in the first place, but this also suggests the AX161 is on the way out too, and Hetzner knows it. Good food for thought!
-
Ah, I see. Just seemed like they missed out on the BF craze given the less publicity. Hell, I even forgot they existed when comparing BF deals. But yeah, another viewpoint is that now I feel comfortable buying their servers any time of the year given that I know the prices will stay the same :)
-
Nice addition to the community! Happy Thanksgiving to all too
-
Yeah, what data do I need to upload next? :) Pictures/Videos (Gotta use 4k now instead of 1080p on videos to bump up usage!) = 10 TB, Linux ISOs ( :p ) = 22 TB, together = 32 TB * 2 for replication = 64 TB :) Shoot, looks like I need more! :)
-
Amazing. Really amazing. Irresistible to change my 4 3TB VPSes to 8 8TB VPSes but I gotta control myself because nobody needs that much storage, haha
-
Thanks for the mention! Already discussed with @Not_Oles. Appreciate it greatly :)
-
@maqbeq This storage VPS is located at OVH's BHS facility: https://lg.ovh.net
-
Correct! Will make clearer next time :)
-
Unlimited 100 mbps or upgradable to 250 mbps for an extra dollar per month. The host server itself gets a 1 gbit connection, so I'm wary of allocating anything else. Close! The 10 TB is you can add on up to 10 TB of storage at $3/month per TB.
-
@willie, as @skorous noted, it's basically RAID 5. My hosts are running ZFS, which is a filesystem that includes RAID functionality, checksums, along with RAM caching, disk caching, and more. For instance, I am running compression to speed up reads/writes while reducing disk space. Imagine it as software RAID 5 but with…

Passionate gamers typically can fork the extra cash to buy a GPU, as cloud gaming does introduce a bit of latency, but overall, people are pivoting, especially those who game every so often and given 30-series cards are nowhere to be found. NVIDIA actually provides GeForce NOW for free with select purchases. It's like "if…
-
I think there's a case for rendering/CAD/etc. that GeForce now doesn't work in those cases because you can only play limited games (I'm assuming???). Also you can't select a GPU (if you somehow need a specific model for a some random reason)
-
@lightblade the thing is, I won't physically be at HE's DC, so whereas Hetzner can have technicians plugging in consoles, I can't, haha :) I know there are some switches so I might play with that, but the simplicity of managing VPSes is why I leaned towards vDedis :)
-
Ok, thanks for all the info everyone! I was curious on if this product could work, and I now know, so something for me to play around with in the future :)
-
Yep! So I get to save on motherboards (no need for IPMI) and customers get the flexibility of VPSes with the power of full dedis.
-
Just easier on a management basis to do virtualization rather than KVM consoles (don't have experience in there), but maybe I could learn. Found some stuff on Amazon that isn't too expensive. Ofc. This is just an post to see if people would be interested in Ryzen dedicated machines at such a cost. So HE is at 15 amps @ 120…
-
Ah, nice! Guess there is already an option! :)
-
You are using their default image and this happens? Double check networking is all correct, and consider contacting support if another machine is competing for the same IP)
-
@cociu just curious, what server chassis do you use? Never heard of a 14 drive-bay one (only 12 drive bay ones). Also, @bdl's photo seems to show a 1U server. Just curious, haha :)
-
Just curious, how is the performance? The P5000 is a rather old card nowadays (Worse than a 1080 for gaming).
-
Haha :) https://www.fluidstack.io/cloud-gaming Basically a Shadow.tech competitor, and you would get a bit of time every month (think somewhere around 50 hours/month) to use a Windows VM complete with a 1080 Ti or better to stream your gaming.
-
Fluidstack.io :) Pricing isn’t at $15/month right now - the cloud gaming service where you use it for a bit every month is in alpha testing, but you can rent dedicated GPU machines with 1080s from $96/month. Let me know if you need any help or have any questions.
