For Black Friday and Christmas: * create a 70% off coupon LUMPOFCOAL (limit to 7 orders); whoever uses this coupon would receive a lump of coal from Santa Claus. * rename SAVE30 to NAUGHTYLIST; wherever uses this coupon would get on the naughty list. * rename ADD35 to GOODLIST; whoever uses this coupon receives a place in…

I somehow have two accounts on AwardSpace. First account was registered on 2006-12-08 and it's no longer working. Second account was registered on 2011-07-23 and I can still login. In order to not forget password, post your password on Twitter and forums. My password was on the top five comments of DEV Community last week…

Push-ups solve all the problems. Do 196 push-ups tonight. You'll be sore for 4 days, and then Norway is delivered.

Most "projects" don't need their own domains. Subdomains are good enough. In the past, you need a short domain to put on billboards and radios. Nowadays, the URI is in hyperlink or QR code or search engine, so that longer path doesn't hurt. I have a project with 100+ stars and forks on GitHub, so I guess it's worth…

* Get a free domain. * Put in the effort to build up the website. * Find out that renewal is expensive. * Dilemma: pay the $35 or lose the traffic? * Unless, it's for a scam operation? Also, my vegan friends and Muslim friends and Indian friends are sending complaints when I transferred a domain to this registrar.

Texting is not enough. I can get the equivalent by chatting with Alexa and Siri. She needs to visit my grandpa with me. Grandpa pays flight ticket and quarantine fee. I hear SolusVM is incompatible with dual storage boxes.

I'm looking forward to: * double RAM from https://mzunguhosting.ml/ * double bandwidth from https://yoursunny-summer-host.cf/ * 70% off from @MaxKVM * Mac Mini at $0.50/hour * half price chicken, either the kind with dedicated EPYC cores, or the kind that goes well on the grill * anything that can be paid with push-ups…

Hurricane Electric DNS supports dynamic updates of A and AAAA records though the dyndns protocol. I delegated a subdomain to HE and configured the home router to send updates there, so that I can connect to the home router from outside.

I installed RIPE ATLAS swprobe on a few boxes that have been idling for too long.

* Order Norway. * Do 14 push-ups every day. * Box delivered after 196 push-ups.

The -w flag stores packet header and payload, so the output is huge. Use -s flag to reduce snaplen, so that you only save the IPv4 header. tcpdump has no concept of connection, and cannot identify outgoing vs incoming connection. However, you can add eBPF filter to capture outgoing packets only.

I mean RadioShack, not Crab Shack.

I'm gonna sell this plan: * 0 CPU core * 256GB RAM * 0TB disk * 0 IP address * 0Mbps network $0.00/month Basically it's a DRAM stick in the drawer/shelf/box. I can offer data center visitation, too. Go to the nearest RadioShack and you can find the DRAM stick.

With 1/8 CPU core, what's the use for that RAM?
-
Windows offering should default to Windows Core. All you get is a PowerShell. No desktop. Bonus point: disable RDP and allow access to that PowerShell over SSH. The RDP in Los Angeles is slower than SSH in Singapore, from East Coast USA.

Should I replace my USB hard drive with this?

Tempting. I can use this to serve video streaming. Shall I buy this box or buy a USB hard drive? ToS is on the website: https://hostsolutions.ro/eng/about-hostsolutions In addition to the conditions listed below are prohibited any illegal activities on all servers HostSolutions.ro. If we detect any illegal activity that…

It's my first time playing with Windows Server 2019. Running a desktop in 2GB memory isn't working well. I'd recommend offering a "Windows Server Core" installation template that only have a PowerShell by default. I can't find any Windows benchmark script so I installed Ubuntu 18.04 in WSL container, and ran a benchmark…

Registration email is in Gmail spam. You may need DKIM signature. Deploying queue is more than an hour, but there's this: I've never used a Windows Server 2019 and I'd see how it works.

Q3 is over. That thread should be closed and Q4 created. Oops, you got a short circuit.

I mentioned L2 connection to Internet2. Internet2 is minimal cost for educational use, if the use case qualifies as educational. Maybe I should give my users a shovel and let them dig a tunnel for 100Gbps fibers. Transit would be free forever.

In 2006, my college organized a contest between housing units. I made a custom CMS so that participants can maintain their online pages that has the "popular vote" button. I had my designer boy prepare several templates, each with four spaces for photos and one space for rich text. Then, I made an ASP.Net application for…

If it's really down, @cam owes you some push-ups.

Thanks for answering. It's unsurprising that this exceeds the normal $70/month maximum. It's not what I'm going to personally pay, but now I have some ideas on what it would cost if someone wants to deploy my software in a commercial data center. This fish tank is too small for the whale. Ideally I want 100Gbps, where an…

KVM * 8 dedicated cores * 32GB RAM * 16GB storage * 10Gbps dedicated port with Ethernet connection to Internet2, 100TB monthly transfer * either 1 IPv4 or /96 IPv6 on 1Gbps shared port, 100GB monthly transfer I made 100Gbps software and can eat this box for breakfast. If a deployment begins, my users would want a box like…

Stimpack should be adding 10%, right?

My website is setup with two nginx sites. The frontend site is a reverse proxy to the backend site and has 1-hour cache; the backend site listens on localhost and runs php-fpm. If someone repeatedly request a page, these requests are answered by the cache and not PHP.

Controlled use of CentOS 5 is beneficial. https://github.com/phusion/holy-build-box Even better, update on Christmas Eve. The next workday for most people would be January 2. No. What if "whole team" is only yourself?

You should update everything in production on Friday at 17:00.

No outdated image by default. If a specific client wants it, open a ticket and their account can install outdated image. We can also have a Speed Record for when providers add newest stable images. ⭐⭐⭐ within 7 days ⭐⭐ within 30 days ⭐ more than 30 days

The traceroute pictures are from my father's laptop, when I accessed it via TeamViewer. Unfortunately, that laptop is broken last week, and there won't be another one until 11.11 discount sale. Ping numbers have a public service: http://ping.chinaz.com It is still showing >250ms RTT from most locations within China.…

We need a hall of shame for providers still offering outdated images. Bonus points for installing an outdated image as the default.
