@uptime Ta, I'll soon find out :) Likely not an issue for me in reality but useful to know.
-
Aye, this really pisses me off! Bloatware.
-
A simple misread by a simple mind. :/
-
A candidate for Nextcloud, though network speed is kinda limiting (250 Mbps would be 'nice').
-
Yay! Guess who got the BF titchy dedi, that was missed back then? :)
-
Note @AnthonySmith 's obsession with pennies (p)? $5/month is the norm; the forward slash denotes 'per'. Just saying. ;)
-
Never mind Megan, it'll soon be Summer... Here comes the Summer!
-
I'm too much of a control freak: prefer to partition, install, encrypt and tweak myself, rather than OOB/preset configurations. My Nextcloud instances are either on (proper) lowend dedi or self-configured VPS.
-
Webmin on debian for Nexcloud, with encryption. None of that docker crap. What's the point of Ubuntu server any way? (Serious question.)
-
Oneprovider are doing no setup fees on small dedis just now - great for Nextcloud, if you stretch the budget a wee bit. Otherwise, either of the above gets my vote.
-
Thought that was London.
-
Well, I got £38 straight back, without asking at all, so I ain't complaining in that regard. The lucky few (for a change). In the last couple of days, I managed to direct login to virtualizor from the "london" node, to clean up a bit on my Oz server, though much of the functionality is/was broken there. I'd already fully…

You tried to buy an additional IP for a WSI box - how much? /29 minimum, IIRC.
-
No, the Scaleway/Online replaced it - the SYS network speeds were fluctuating a helluva lot anyway. Still got a KS-7 (manually installed Proxmox) though. ;)
-
I got an email about the pending price rise months ago, so when I was feeling slightly more affluent (very rare), I purchased 3 months in advance. I mentioned it to a (nearly former) hosting provider who took the opportunity to purchase longer than that. ;) Edit: Slight exaggeration.. Mon 02/12/2019 "Dear Customer, As you…

Love my €1.99 dedicated server - wish I'd got two. Excellent for NextCloud tertiary backups and been totally stable. Had a Billing query and Support answered within 4 minutes!

His Oz OVH appears to have died. The end is..
-
Hyper-V=Windoze based. Wouldn't go near it and a main reason for leaving my UK provider when they phased out vmware. Just saying.
-
^ Wouldn't know - only boot 'doze in extreme circumstances eg. camera firmware upgrades. ;) BTW, new Ryzen is sweet my man, now fully operational and the old HDoc VPS will likely be decommissioned tomorrow. :)
-
WTF! Putty? No need for that shit when not using Windoze. :p
-
Go on @Ant, you know you want to.. Going, going..
-
Feck! Here we go again.
-
C'mon Brendan, you know you want to gimme a customised setup as above. Go on, go on, go on. ;-) In case anyone wonders, working in Ireland for months on end really screwed up my vocabulary - it was a wee lad from Limerick who pronounced cool, as kewl. It stuck, along with the bloody Guinness belly. :'( (Oh and same fella…
-
Well, I was gonna go with OVH (Oz) direct but took this one instead, before they sold out. Instant setup - kewl. Don't need 4vCPU, 4GB RAM (half would do) and double the storage on SSD/HDD would suit better. This powerhouse is gonna idle a lot. ;) QuantumCore hangs in there as a backup. Thanks @Brendan

@AnthonySmith comments like that continue to raise my respect for you. A far cry from my very first impressions, way back. ;)
-
His right what? :p
