You could still test the speeds of the network and just ignore the disk results, perhaps. Wasn't aware of the fio limitations... TIL!
-
One way to rule this out is to run the test from a RAM disk (the server has enough RAM to be able to do this, I think); YABS writes all it's files to the same directory it's stored in.

Yeah, I agree. I think they failed to update that part of the documentation. Nonetheless, I currently have 4 public IPs deployed, myself. 1 for each x86 VM, 1 on my ARM VM, and 1 on a load balancer I set up... I've been able to reserve 1 static IP and assign 1 more IP to a Bastion (basically a temporary jumpbox) as well,…

To some extent, yeah. I find it's best to be used for applications that run on architecture-agnostic languages such as Java, Javascript, Python, etc., which is my planned use case. Yup, that's correct. I think they even updated the UI to tell you what to expect in terms of I/O when you select the "shape" (the amount of…

It is opposite day, so your bandwidth has been involucrated instead.

I don't want to post this on the OGF because I don't want jbiloh knowing about me and him having my info.

Update: Reduced asking price again. I am open to entertaining any offers either here in the thread or via PM.

Sounds like an issue with session cookies, make sure your browser is accepting them for their site, or try clearing your cache, if you haven't already.

Update: Reduced asking price on the hardware, but I am open to other offers as well.

Oh baby, don't tempt me with a good time! B)

So tempting...! I might pick this up... I need more storage...

I dual booted Windows XP SP2 and Ubuntu 6.06 LTS on my old AMD Duron 1.3Ghz, 512MB RAM, and a 80GB IDE HDD with a Nvidia GeForce MX400 with 64MB of video RAM. I installed via DVD because I only had dial-up internet at the time; what I would do is over dial-up, I'd check for repository updates but opt to not download the…

The best thing about Chromebooks is that you can often put Linux on them (especially if they're Intel based)

Depends how tiny you wanna go. Debian Minimal knocks down the RAM and disk space requirements to around 100MB RAM and 1GB. SliTaz still has common Linux packages and can run in as little as 24MB of RAM, around 2-4MB of swap, and around 80MB of HDD space (though it is typically a live distro with a "save" file a la Puppy…

Which datacenter is this located in if you don't mind me asking?

Just got a update on my end. Paypal dispute ended in my favor due to HS not responding. Shame it had to end this way.

Very happy with Flatpress so far. Very simple to deploy and fast to load. +1 for DokuWiki too.
-
I should hear back Monday from Paypal regarding my dispute.

Block 0.0.0.0/0, it's the only way to be sure. Just have people post you MicroSD cards when they want to send you data. They will only send it if it's valuable to them that you see their data. Easy! You can even put your reply on there and post it back to them.

Why not?

AMS - I am using public trackers, but my torrents have mostly consisted of corporate data leaks and older games for the most part. No forwarded DMCA requests at this time.

This is the right mentality to have, I am also among the affected, but I treated it as a third-level backup. If it's unavailable, oh darn, but it's no real skin off my back. You'd be insane to rely on his services for production use.

No GUI on this but Puppet might be worth looking into. Gotta learn how to write puppet code but it's insanely powerful with maintaining desired idempotent state on a system or group of systems.

Benchmarking doesn't tell the whole story of a VM... a node... a provider... or a datacenter! That only comes with time, incidents happening, and and how said incidents are handled. A benchmark is purely one piece of the puzzle to determining whether a host is, as we all say, "prem". Additionally benchmarks are good for…

If you want a software stack that is managed for you and "just works" and don't mind sharing a bare metal server with others, the value seedboxes with PulsedMedia are a great bang for the buck option. My current solution is a $7/mo. low end dedi from OneProvider (Online.net) with a C2350, 4GB RAM, 1TB HDD, and Fair Share…

The Quincy, WA datacenter is one of a few my company I work for uses. It's excellent and super reliable for us and we have a few rows of racks there. It's been great as a load balanced/DR site to go along with some of our other DCs.

You can press Ctrl+Alt+F2 or F3 to get to a terminal, but I am not certain if the ip route commands are available (it's usually a BusyBox-like or basic sh prompt, no bash).
