That was another point actually. I suggested that even if you picked a UK host and the performance is poor that will likely affect you more than say a German host that was significantly more performant.

I like it. One of those things that you will get used to but an improvement. The only thing I don't like is that if you hover over the left side it pops up fine, but move back to the right to do something else on that page, you need to click to get the menu to disappear. I would prefer that if I move right beyond the menu…

Had a play around with the new theme, looking really nice and feels a bit more intuitive in places where it wasn't before. Simple things make a difference.

I saw what you did there.

This is good but the reality is that CentOS is commonly chosen if you are using a control panel. You are now supporting CentOS 8 as you had to given you are so tied to cPanel. People in the main use Ubuntu/Debian without panels on their VPS. I know many that would use Jetbackup for Linux but OS is the deal-breaker. I mean…

Still a big gap in the market for a good automated set and forget backup provider that does not charge the earth. JetBackup for Linux is a really good option price & feature wise but CentOS 7 only. Ottomatik.io is amazing but stupid expensive even when you bring your own storage.

@mason have you moved it? Seems super quick all of a sudden.

That is way nicer than the current ones. Especially the Icon Grid one which just makes me shudder when I see it.

I do like Hetzner Cloud, a good choice.

Ok, ignore what I said above, really, just fuck off now.

LET was built out of the passion of one guy for low-end systems by someone who had a genuine interest. LES was built by someone with a genuine interest in hosting and a desire to break away from what wasn't good at LET. That is what made them popular plus neither had a financial focus. If you had the focus and intent you…

Yeah, you lost my attention right there. As far as that other site that some of your suggested domains point to. There is nothing more that I hate in hosting than scammy BS affiliate top host websites. All fake reviews and always the top affiliate payouts at the top such as Bluehost and HostGator focussed on. Likely never…

@seriesn - Good job, some great plans and pricing.

I mean, I don't want to rain down on you but the day of the forum is gone for hosting. Sure you can have more niche boards like this one but WHT has had its time and it knows it. Good luck with it though. Also, is topwebhosts.com yours?

Thanks, if I do something it will use my own hardware and not be lowend.
-
That is pretty nice. Good to see new things being added.

So, decided it was time to get back to DA and start learning how to manage it properly. The non-compete after the sale of my hosting business is ending in the not too distant future. Maybe, might, could, possibly do something with DA in the future. So grabbed a slice in Luxembourg to play around. Had so many other plans…

Makes sense, I guess someone like DO adding it to their marketplace will end up generating more support that you care for which of course takes you all away from other tasks such as improving the panel.
-
Licensing is always the answer. I suspect they would only offer it if it can be installed and activated without any up-front cost to them. A bit like cPanel and Plesk. DO and Vultr offer both but cPanel is a trial period, Although Vultr does offer cPanel licensing. Plesk is limited to x amount of accounts and you can…
-
@DA_Mark Any interest from larger cloud providers, DO, Vultr, Hetzner or others in them offering licences?
-
Let me get your coat for you.

If Michael is too expensive then I take it things like uptime are optional.
-
Totally, stay away from anything that 99% of the time will make you beholden to someone because they helped you out with the site.
