@Neoon Hey! Hope you like my updated sig. Thanks for the wonderful, painless, fast, free hosting with a beautiful web interface! @vyas Always lovely to see your comments! Might MicroLXC be even faster if MicroLXC ran at MetalVPS? :) Best wishes from Mexico! 🏜️

Possibly a bit of progress to report! I've been running around trying all kinds of qemu command line foo ("qemufoo"). I've been wondering about warnings I was getting from qemu via /etc/qemu-ifup, and why vmbr0 wasn't showing up in ip link show. After a few more than a few days, I finally looked at systemctl status…

Perhaps consider taking a look inside the Chrome Development Tools CTRL-Shift-I and see what might be learned there?

Can they easily get in? Maybe you could add their ssh key? Providers are hesitant to go inside because of respect for privacy. And if anything happens after they go inside they might be accused of causing the trouble. So we need to remember to give the providers a break, but maybe they'll help you if you ask.

When the CPU suddenly gets pinned and you weren't doing much, it might be a software bug. I've been involved in a couple of situations where this has happened. Once when I was testing something for a good programmer. These bugs can be hard to catch and not at all related to anything specific you are doing beyond running…

Thank you for asking! Nothing wrong with Netcup that I know about. The main idea of this post was, if I decide to spend money by not using free services like Google Cloud and Oracle, might these funds go to a provider who is here at LES? Also, I like monthly payments because monthly payments help keep the market free and…

Cool! Delighted to meet you! 🌟

Upcloud ticks all my boxes for $5/month. Except that they are not here at LES. Google is free, Oracle is free. Linode and Upcloud are $5/month each. Budget could be increased if there were a reason. My email stuff seems to run great at Upcloud on 1 core, 1 GB RAM, 25 GB storage. It also ran great on Google Cloud Free Tier,…

It is not so much that I am looking for an extra discount on a 1€ virtual server. At first glance the G-Core Labs website seemed unusually well put together! They seem very smart! Thus it seems appropriate for me, having suggested what I think I need, to ask them to recommend the most appropriate selection(s) from among…

I sent gcorelabs a message using the web form near the bottom of the page at https://gcorelabs.com/

Hi @Neoon! Thanks!

Hello @Neoon! Requesting quota increase, please. Use case: serve a very small, almost no traffic website. Thank you! :)

There are all these long rant threads everywhere about Macbook vs Thinkpad vs other things. Here's a link to a recent HN post on the Thinkpad P14s. In the blog post which is the subject of the HN post there is a link to bgamari's list of requirements for a laptop. If I were buying a laptop now, I'd go through bgamari's…

%Ympker I also tried cutting after "supported/" and got an error with https://chromeunboxed-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/chromeunboxed.com/what-happens-when-a-chrome-os-device-is-no-longer-supported/ However, my second try, "put 'https://' in front of the part beginning with 'chromeunboxed'" to get…

My Acer CB314 works with Crostini. Maybe the one you looked at just needs an OS update? However, there is more than one type of CB314. Mine is a "CB314-1H-C884". This has a Full HD IPS display. I have seen another CB314 with a different display. Maybe the other one(s) have different Crostini capabilities too. Apparently,…

Hi @sonic! If my math is right, your combined budget for these VPSes is $75/month. Why not just get your own bare metal server? Do these VPSes need to be in different locations? Friendly greetings from Mexico! 🌎🌍

Congrats to @MichaelCee and @seriesn!! 💛💛

Hi @Falzo! Here are results with qemu's default processor (as in the first test, above) but now flying the -enable-kvm flag. As might be expected, this third test gives an intermediate result, 1308: KVM Status AES Status GB 5 Single Core ScoreOff Off 110On Off 1308On On 1524 For anybody trying to understand how KVM could…

@miu I checked your post on the Proxmox Forum to see whether Proxmox replied. I found no reply. Then I remembered this 2020 Proxmox forum thread where Wolfgang from the Proxmox staff explains that "network configuration is out of scope" so that even buying a Proxmox subscription "would help nothing" for a network…

Hetzner transfer tokens for servers with extra IPs are the new Bitcoin. 😂
-
@Advin said It pushes customers toward Hetzner's cloud services which, to Hetzner, might be way more profitable per server than dedicated root server rental. It partially closes the tiny gap which might have existed and which might have made it barely profitable to rent a dedi and sell VPSes on it. Maybe, in today's market…

@Ympker Hey! Typing this on a Chromebook. Have been using Chromebooks for some years along with Apple. A few points to consider: * Display Color It won't make a difference to most people, but the Chromebook displays can be quite . . . colorful. One of mine is quite blue, and another is quite yellow. I bought and returned a…

@miu Thanks again! Watching the thread on the Proxmox forum. :)

@miu Thanks for the updates! Especially with the logs. Could you please post or PM me your Proxmox forum post link?

@miu I ran a little test. My server (running Debian sid, not Proxmox) had bridge-ports none. Just for fun I tried changing the "none" to "enp7s0", which is the name of my server's primary interface, corresponding to "eno3" on your server. systemctl restart networking following this change broke networking, which was the…

@ehab Yeah. for sure, but @miu can't look at the logs after the machine is reinstalled. :)

Hi @miu! Please answer a few questions from a clueless guy: (A) In your original post, How do you run the ssh command when the network is unreachable? (B) What do the logs say about bringing the network up as part of the reboot? Is there something that failed? (C) In your interface eno3 is set to "manual." In man (5)…
