Totally different idea, but have you considered launching a Germany location at e.g. Hetzner and offer cheap Contabo-like offers where people will know it's not the best quality you can get (compared to Clouvider prem) but cheap and from a great guy? Maybe just throw some mildly oversold LXC containers on a Hetzner Dedi…

How can they, legally, do that anyway? Saying "okay, updates&support can no longer be included in lifetime licenses due to too high expenses/extra hours which is why we will charge LTD holders now x€/year for updates&support" is kne thing. Cutting any option (even paid ones) to get support&updates is highly questionable…

Blesta has been good for me, too. Looking forward to its' future :)

Kinda second that. If you have dynamic content or want to easily change content WP is great. Also, if you get smth like Divi theme lifetime license you can setup a page from hundreds of templates and dont worry about recurring subscriptions.

Not the email client but storing the emails with google (overseas) can, technically, be a gdpr problem. Not saying Microsoft or anyone else is better. Not saying that you should stop using gmail either. Just that the whole gdpr stunt has been taken to the extreme sometimes. Especially in countries like Germany where legal…

Thanks for the tutorial :) in terms of dsgvo/gdpr probably a nightmare, but other than that quite good.

Iirc, yes :)

To be fair Divi has come a long way and it's very powerful right now. Can be a bit on "slow" when combined with too many other plugins though imho. Still, it's great for what it is and is one of the most powerful and popular page builders that still continue to offer a lifetime unlimited sites license that includes not…

The builder comes with lots of cool Features and possibilities as well as with a regularily updated premade layout libray (100+ layouts from most niches like café, restaurant, business, lawyer, fitness studio, travel, lifestyle, hosting..).

I am using Divi theme (divi builder is built-in) mostly, yes. The reason being that most freemium themes lock Features/settings behind a paywall so with Divi I don't have that issue. The builder is useful too.

Child theme with eg Divi can become problematic if I dont maintain the client's site after finishing it and the code gets outdated, then updates and breaks stuff.
-
It's great :)
-
There was a tutorial for Yoast to do this but they moved it to the pro version, I believe. I found this code, although when updating the theme while not using a child theme it could become a problem. function myprefix_redirect_attachment_page() { if ( is_attachment() ) { global $post; if ( $post && $post->post_parent ) {…

Thanks for the ideas, mate. Yeah, I'll give it a thought. For a specific client there are some 30+ PDF pages used. May put them on a public accessible folder (since they are meant to be publicly accessed anyway) in the wp-uploads folder like "/uploads/pdfdocs/.." and link from there. That way no attachment pages are…
-
WordPress seems to (as of recently) automatically create a "page" for every media attachment/file (img, pdf whatever) you upload. This sucks for some cookie Plugins which are free until 100 subpages but due to the aforementioned count image pages and attachment pages also towards that number since the attachment pages can,…

Really? Didn't know that lol. Interesting.

Time will tell. So far not using any cdn and onl used LSCache from HM :)
-
True, although they have a free tier. Rn not using it though.

Good old bank transfers and no automatic setup. Provisioning within 24 hours. Those were the days :P

Personally, I have shifted all my web projects and client projects to shared/reseller over using a vps. More convenient, daily Backups with JetBackup, a nice CP like DA/cPanel or Plesk and I don't need to pay any license fee. If I didnt have Blesta already I'd even get a free Blesta with HM Reseller. It's been way more…

Happy with Blesta for billing and if I ever need a self hosted cp again for web hosting it's gonna be DA or ISPConfig/Keyhelp :)
-
Quoting myself from another forum: Tl;dr: You may be limited to 5 Mbit/s till the end of month, or you won't be limited at all. So doesn't seem strictly enforced. That being said, you are free to pay their monthly/yearly plan and have no such "limit" at all. Having this 900GB "limit" for LTD users, some of which paid a…

Tbh HM has some of the highest resource allocations around in shared hosting. Maybe optimizing the website would be a better step forward knowing that some of HM shared plans even have up to 6? GB RAM and high I/O.

Ouch! Premium agent.
-
Nice :) True lol. Especially in Germany IPs tend to change often due to ISPs.
-
Never noticed this; that being said using Getflix SmartDNS most of the time so that's probably why. However, I seem to have a static ip kinda since Getflix also doesn't autoupdate iirc and it still works :P
-
Nice summary :) Your IP can be updated automatically via Keepsolid SmartDNS phone app, in case you didn't know.
-
Maybe @liteserver can work something out :)
-
That's a dope offer! Glws :)

I use it for Flix, streaming and some casual isos. No issues here. If you are in an authoritarian state, using VPN for political reasons, or targeted by national security/officials or any other group that may do your harm, do your research thoroughly. Most VPN services are made for the masses to unblock…
