+1 Though, with Serbian banks, I prefer having at least 2 months time to sort things out. With possible vacations and sick leaves etc, I try to make that at least 3, whenever possible. I even pay my electricity bills for months upfront. :)

Yes, that's what I mean. They do state this: "With AWS Budget Actions, you can also configure specific actions to respond to cost and usage status in your accounts, so that if your cost or usage exceeds or is forecasted to exceed your threshold, actions can be executed automatically or with your approval to reduce…

AWS does allow you to set budget limits, doesn't it?

If you need it - buy it. Other prices will go up as well. Don't think it will make much difference in the long run. (of course I get a 10% of every sold Hetnzer service, why do you ask? ) :) Actually, I do have an affiliate link lol :) https://hetzner.cloud/?ref=5BqvdZup7pCp Buy now. Buy today! Prices will stay the same…

The cost, when using WordPress, is a ton of unused files. A change should be worth the effort (ideally with the "tools" to clean up the old stuff).
-
Expect and calculate for double, then be pleasantly surprised (hopefully). :) It's how things go nowadays, worldwide, across most industries. Inflation. :(

There's no replacement for a good editor! :)

Good point. I think it depends on how you use it. In addition/related to what @HalfEatenPie wrote: I set it to be disabled until I manually "turn it on." And I did end up not always using it. Relatively often, but not always. When I run it, it makes me re-think any stuff that I got wrong (according to Grammarly, it often…

Here are some interesting facts (and workarounds) related to the current WordPress image auto-creation (disabling). And my thoughts on WordPress 6.1 default WebP image format creation.

Feedback: Payoneer wire-transfers work. And with a fairly fair policy. I paid $33, and the Hetzner account got €31.74. That's about 50 cents commission, i.e. about 1.5 percent. With more than fair storage box prices (under $3 per month for 1TB), it's a great deal, and I'm happy for being to prevent any payment problems…

Got an email from Bing that my websites were blocked, and upon review, they decided to lift the block - so it should all be fine in about 3 weeks. A bit more info: Manual unblock? We'll know by September, I suppose.

Thanks. I googled Payoneer fees, and checked their (re-vamped) user interface. It shows clearly (if it's correct) how much I pay, and how much the receipient's bank gets. Looks acceptable ($1.5 taken for $33 paid). Gave it a try, will know in a couple of days if it worked.
-
That is exactly the problem - I want to pre pay funds in advance. I can do that by posting a ticket? @dfroe SEPA doesn't work for us living in the "wrong" countries (like Serbia). Wise - would have to look into it. I believe they too (like Payoneer) will still end up with at least $30 commissions for wire transfers. And it…
-
@Hetzner_OL - I suppose it's worth to ask: Do you plan on ever enabling account funds pre-paying using a card (visa/mastercard)? Right now, it's only possible via a wire transfer, which costs an arm and a leg (at least a $30 commission by banks). I'd like to be able to pay for at least a few months in advance, so I don't…

Yes, but is WebP worth the trouble? Read this "jewel" from the start of the linked blog, quote: To assess the overall impact of generating WebP images on site storage, the team surveyed hosting providers. With a total of 17 responses, the results show that the number of stored files is generally not an issue for most…

Sybre's comment makes sense: https://make.wordpress.org/core/2022/06/30/plan-for-adding-webp-multiple-mime-support-for-images/#comment-43276 Quote: How much weight does a typical site lose serving Google’s WebP over JPEG, (aside from lowering the image fidelity further)? I think it’d be a drop in the ocean, even for those…
-
Probably... unless it ends up like AMP. :) But yes, it's getting a big push allright. Though, PNG and JPG when used properly can get very close, if not better (smaller files, with a decent image quality).
-
Seems like the home page is back to Bing & Co. But zero search queries show any of my articles - so practically it’s still gone from Bing. We’ll see if that changes.
-
I just hope we'll be able to disable the option, until enough users do the proper beta-testing (6 months to a year). :)

It's written communication in a foreign language. I'm not arguing. Nor accusing - as you noted in another reply. Your input is good - I was just offering a different perspective. I.e. it wasn't intended as an insult or an accusation. Edit: For what it's worht, the perspective change is what I'm guilty of. I would have…

I'm not talking about electronics prices. I'm talking about price-to-pay ratio. I.e. a high-quality router taking a full monthly pay VS one week's pay VS 4 hours of work etc. In other words: different perspective based on incomes and budgets (as seems to be the case with Ympker now, in his current situation).
-
If you live in a "1st world" country - just multiply every price by 5 and see if you would still consider it worth paying. If not, then my hat off to you sir. I try to go for higher quality, but the budget is often quite limited. So I usually try to get the "best bang for the buck." Not always, but most often.
-
Future proof hardly ever makes sense. Just burning money. Unfortunately. I get the idea, but when you sum up all the pros and cons, I think it's better to buy cheaper, then get a new one in 3-5 years, once most of your equipment supports the new protocol. Of course, if the price difference is symbolic and/or the newer…

I'd be fine with the newer model, but if I were shopping, I'd look for the V2 at a discount and get it over with. It should do the job just fine. We're not talking about dozens of Wi-fi users here, or huge Wi-fi bandwidth demands? Home use, work computer wire-connected, with a Wi-fi laptop or two? For that, it should be…

Just checked - my current low-end ISP provided me with TP-Link Archer C6 AC1200: https://www.tp-link.com/in/home-networking/wifi-router/archer-c6/v4/ The older model (V2) comes with a Qualcomm chip and that would be my first pick: https://www.tp-link.com/in/home-networking/wifi-router/archer-c6/v2/ Sells for about 50 euros…
-
Take this with a grain of salt, but TP-Link offerings in that price range should be good ($70+).
