I fail to see your logic and point. Though, the same probably goes vice-versa - and the designer(s) apparently share that point of view. :)

For what it's worth (I think that watching what people do is more telling than hearing what they say): 1) Soon after hearing about the HostMantis sale/partnership, I moved all the sites to MyW US and DE servers. 2) Started testing MDDHosting (so far, quite good). 3) This Saturday, in the early afternoon, I saw 80% of the…

A minor UI-related complaint - hadn't noticed it until I had to (over)work while underslept: :)

An iPhone app exists, but it's shown with very small letters, below the Play Store note. Show it clearly on your website for us snobs to see! :)

No, it is a friend, not a "friend." Thanks to everyone for the help and advice. Yes, a files & DB wipe and a fresh WP install; and some downtime, while the files and data are imported, were necessary. Should have done that right away, but it took a day for everyone involved to make peace with the fact it's fucked and come…

For now: * I've managed to get the text and images to a staging environment. * Deleted the files and DB on the infected cPanel. * Imported a staging AIO WP Migration export into a fresh WP install on the "problematic" cPanel account. No LiteSpeed, no CloudLinux and no (not that I know of) antivirus with the current hosting…

I was suggesting a completely new cPanel account (with a different hosting provider) - and a separate one for each website, just in case. Cloudflare DNS to make any migrations faster and smoother (+ extra security and the basic CDN & speed benefits). Plus a general re-work of the WordPress sites. Oh - and using the last…
-
That makes sense - thank you. Most probably it was the cPanel password. But will know with more certainty over the next few days/weeks.

+1 Just checked: I've used the service since 2019, and haven't had a single ticket that was urgent (like a website down, and I'm awake to notice it :) or anything else I'd consider urgent/serious). Also, the only tickets that weren't set to low priority, were set so because I had forgotten to edit the default "medium"…

Here's my drivel on MyW tech. support. And yes, my main concern is the "what ifs." For my own websites - I always have backups, so I can easily move them. For any client sites - well, the same, perhaps with a "losing millions" call. :) Though I've had a few hour+ long downtimes even with good, 24/7 support providers (very,…

Forgot the "simple solutions" (not seeing the forest from the trees), here are some other ideas: a) .zip the file (if it can be just downloaded). b) Put it on a separate cPanel account, using a subdomain, and configure ModSecurity for that account differently.

On a DirectAdmin reseller hosting account, I was given options to enter a rule ID and set it to ignore, per each DirectAdmin sub-account individually. Hell, I was even advised to do so on an occasion (strange 403), which, for that particular problem, I thought was not the best solution. Not every provider allows that (with…

As I said in my first post - while some people have to learn how to, I was born to idle & delegate. Like Jürgen Klopp, I bring out the best in every team member! :) If there are enough high-quality volunteers, I'd be happy to skip. Likewise, I'm also happy to help. ...As always, every path has its pros and cons, no good…

I guess so. As always: * Fast * Reliable * Cheap You can pick only two.

Nope - I wrote a fresh post for the sole purpose of nominating @deank - right away. :) The original: https://lowendspirit.com/discussion/comment/91518/#Comment_91518 Highly unlikely that I had edited the mention, even if a bed spilling mistake was fixed in an edit.
-
Why of course - I've already submitted the paperwork for changing my brand and nick to: "Bike Kremlin." Only, the word "genocide" is a bit too clear to understand - such communication is apparently not acceptable nowadays. No sir. When Russia bombs you, it's called "A special operation." When the USA bombs you, it's called…

I'll most probably be very sceptical and critical, but a good backup script is always welcome. Especially if it can (be configured to) backup the entire WP directory with all the sub-directories, not just the WP-related files. Additional kudos for providing a standard ("universally" readable) format DB export and file…
-
I'd like to suggest @deank - because if security companies hire hackers, wouldn't it be wise for a forum to have the official troll as a moderator? That would be a first - but this place is special! :) Deank's been here long enough, knows what's what, and the only challenge I can foresee is writing a script that would take…

@yoursunny is the strongest - it's an obvious choice for a mod! :)

@Ympker and @Chievo - check your crypto-wallets, the payment should have arrived. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AExPuahjxs

I'm crazy enough to volunteer. :) Would like to help keep this place as it is (and better), running for a long time. Having said that, as always - I'm also happy to see someone else do the job, even if it's paid. It's my Montenegrin roots - we were born to idle! :)
-
UK, and US east coast are my favourites. In that order of preference.
-
Bad cop mode on/ :) WP plugin shouldn't be used to back WP up. It's best done on the server level (if one has access). I'd argue that to be faster, less resource-demanding (in a shared hosting environment this matters, be a good customer :) ), and more stable & secure.

Most of my (and client) sites are working fine with MyW.pt at the moment (my MyW experience). Thanks @MikePT At the same time, I started testing MDDHosting Elastic Reseller (my initial impressions - so far so good). As this situation showed, it's always a good idea to have a good-quality, tried and tested alternative. :)
-
Reliability of the provider is what I meant, not the panel. I've been very sceptical (and critical). Now, it has both cons and pros - I wouldn't say that it's inferior in every possible aspect. The way backups and restorations are done tips the scale for me. Haven't ever tried the API so can't comment on that.
-
Feedback: Just tried DA to DA migration to MyW.pt. Worked like a charm for our huge-database motorcycling forum. Edit: I used to do this via SSH, since PhpMyAdmin DB import would fail, no matter how I set the max PHP upload file size limit. This is a lot faster and simpler. Procedure, using the DirectAdmin (DA)…

Yes. Most reseller hosting providers limit resources per a created sub-account, not per a whole reseller account. Probably for a reason. It's definitely better for re-selling. The per-whole-reseller limits are better for allowing more flexibility on a per-account basis (setting your own per-account limits). In the end,…
-
But it solves this problem to a great degree: "'I've just always been afraid of people using reseller plans for profit purposes and not caring what or who they put on them"
-
Consider making resource limits on a per-whole-account basis. As explained here: https://io.bikegremlin.com/23094/hostmantis-enterprise-reseller-hosting-review/#3 I'm running over a dozen websites on these resources with no problems whatsoever (not per website, but total - and hardly ever used more than half in total): 50…
-
Would you care to explain why - probably best in a separate topic? In other words - what are the main cons of using one?

Backups are always at hand, always ready to move, regardless of the provider. Just got back from the gym and read the news (a 10 days notice - classic! :) ) - updated my reviews with the info, doing my research on the new owner (doesn't look too promising), and getting ready to test MDDhosting "Elastic reseller," while…
