Shit, dude that's a good score!

Hash seedz grow into weed plantz man 420420

It was a complete shock to me, but I will see over the next week how it goes. I'm super conscious of my CPU usage so if it starts to get closer to 25% I'll panic-move it back.

An update for anyone interested. I have moved my Plex over to the Ryzen L to see how it performs and I have noticed that things are much faster, especially with transcoding. The CPU usage is actually significantly lower than when run on Intel processors, as is the system load. I was shocked to see that without any change…

I'm extremely impressed at how strong these cores are on the plow. I would say that 4 cores of this beast is the equivalent in Plex terms as 8 cores of most intel processors. The other very impressive thing is the full 1 gbit speed from google drive is possible, I haven't used many networks where that's the case, for…

Looks like you and I are on the same level of addiction. I have put most of my idlers to work to justify their existence, even if that work is just running tmux and htop :-) Neat idea with 2 plex servers, although that would be a nightmare to keep in sync.

root@ryzentest:~# cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep "model name" | uniq model name : AMD Ryzen 9 3950X 16-Core Processor That's much better! Thanks for fixing that so quickly, a working example of that awesome customer service I mentioned :-)

If you open a ticket he can mount a custom ISO. His ticket etiquette is world class, no joke.

If it's rare I'd say it's really out of stock..
-
@corbpie that's noooooice! Any chance you could run a geekbench so we can drool over the multithread result?
-
Done! He's on his way now :-)

I have one of these, it's a beast. The HDD storage is $1 per 100GB and performance is excellent. I use my HDD storage for nextCloud and as it grows I can live with a buck a month for the extra space. FWIW I vouch for the provider. Excellent support, excellent network, excellent performance and totally worth the price tag.…

You're a funny potato sir @uptime :-)

At this point, it is my opinion that you would have to be certifiably insane - absolutely bonkers - to purchase anything from this person.
-
Why not start a radio stream? Or a youtube downloader? Check out the "awesome selfhosted" lists for ideas.. This could be fun.. how retro we talking? :-)
-
It would be safer to either piss the money up the wall or buy from a shitty CC LEB host who at least appears to try to give a fuck. MATE. LES's first winter host (it's summer here in the land of mates and vegemite)

* Nexus Bytes (@seriesn) at first I was hesitant, took the plunge and I suddenly have a bunch of services with Nexus Bytes and they're nothing short of awesome, plus the customer service is top notch. I believe @seriesn deserves the crown :-) * Quantum Core - solid Intel Gold in Australia from $5 AUD, what else is there to…

Emphasis mine. Server management is one of your services! Far out brussels sprout...

There are so many red flags here, honestly, I'm worried that this will become a shit show very quickly. You're clearly not technically competent enough to be running a hosting provider. Honestly man, if you can't get disks partitioned and set up Virtualizor which is probably the simplest solution to install, and you don't…

Not how it works..
-
Holy shit, talk about timing!!!
-
How can I say this without coming across as a dick? But I have a bad feeling about this provider. It was a couple of days ago you asked on discord for someone to help you setting up this server, which shows an extremely low technical skill level for a "provider" I honestly hope I'm looking at this the wrong way, so please…

Why are you reading this and not buying one already? Join the family :-)

I think debian leaves out sudo by default, I've always had to install sudo if I needed it. I love nano, but like curl it's not always available by default. I have basically memorized a one liner for apt that I run the first time I hit the terminal.
-
@AnthonySmith the Debian 9 install I got from you the other day is awesomely minimal, and I'm very thankful for that. Keeps things clean and simple, plus everything else that might be missing is an apt install away. Locales and tmux, easy fix. Run: sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales Side effect is the lack of "dialog" being…

I do too, a lot. A few of the servers I manage have WordPress sites and it's crazy the amount of compromised installs appear. Biggest giveaway is the mail limit notifications come in.. can be fun cleaning things up, usually don't do that unless paid specifically for that task lol
-
OpenVZ7 ISO huh? TIL.
-
That's perfect, thanks Ant :-) Keeping it in the low end spirit of things :-P
-
LUKS is about as good as it gets, it's baked into Linux and I can recall no major breaches (weak passphrases don't count)
-
I heard you need quality, dependable and powerful servers, in Europe.. Have you heard of Hetzner? :-)
-
@AnthonySmith thank you :-) I placed the order, I hope that's the right one.

WTB 1 kilogram of gold, willing to pay upwards of $5.
-
@Massimo believe me @seriesn is friendly and has some excellent deals, and the service is top notch.. you really can't go wrong with him.
-
If OP doesn't want that, I'd be happy to try and document any success, then return the VPS when the experiment is over. For science..
-
I would love to find out, for curiosity's sake. I don't currently have any VZ7 boxes to play with..
