WHT is suck in the late 90's, stagnant and feels like an abandoned old museum of historical relics such as set-up fees, $30/month for 512mb RAM type things. Viva LE*

That's a very fair set of rules Anthony. I like how you've "given enough rope" so to speak with regards to aff links, but maybe add some clarification that it falls under the general rule of being done tastefully (labelled as aff, not hidden behind a url shortening link so one could remove the aff if they are that way…

You could.. but it's probably best to use that assumption to know how much money to set aside for BF.. ie.. "is my BF budget $X or $XX or $XXX or maybe even $XXXX+"
-
Yeah, that's not the sort of deal you just cancel willy-nilly lol Me too, especially this one, it's something I'm sure we can all relate to (unless it's just quirky me)

Sounds interesting, I take it the whole machine would be dedicated to the customer just running the one VM? As long as you can pass all the flags like vt-x it would be awesome.
-
Tl;dw but tell me it had an actual terminal "bell", that would be awesome.
-
Looks like it's got potential once those (mainly UI/UX) issues are ironed out.
-
Jesus christ! That's some nasty stuff, hopefully they jail the perps. At least I know why my server went down.. time to spin up the backup plan for "linux ISO acquisition"

I need about 1TB of storage, Los Angeles would be ideal. Don't want to pay normal prices, am expecting a discount of course. The challenge is that it needs to have reasonable IO, not network storage, for Nextcloud use.

I only have one service with servarica at the moment, and it's a yearly ipv6-only deal from BF I believe, and honestly I've just idled it. I've cut down a lot on my VPS collection these days, sticking to the providers that I've grown to love and trust and it's working out well so far.. I should probably do a bench and…

I agree with that 100% - One thing I just considered was that they also used HDD which was the cause of their main issues that I can recall (horrible IO) plus a lot of abusive clients that they attracted/appealed to/allowed who thrashed the CPU (admittedly, I'm guilty of that) and those who thrashed the network and disk…

Nice idea Ant! I'm interested to see how this plays out, and will buy one once I can think of a meaningful use for it. My only concern would be that the usage patterns you'll see on these would not reflect real-world results (will they all just idle or will everyone have geekbench on a hourly cron or something crazy? Lol)…

The easiest way to test this is by opening many tabs of Plex, and play a video in each one. Make sure you set the quality to anything other than "original" to ensure it transcodes each video instead of direct playing.

It's fantastic value and performance is excellent, go for it :-)
-
I will trade you 1 roll of 2 ply toilet paper for 10 years of your highest spec'd service, sir. Edit: with full management ofc
-
Why would they? That's like comparing apples and oranges. The EPYC has a slower clock, so those people would buy a Ryzen for much better performance and much lower price, not the EPYC 7502P.
-
Uh oh, what made that so obvious?
-
I'm more curious about how Hetzner and basically everyone else have managed to rack up their Ryzens. I keep hearing about how they are desktop CPUs and there are shitty mobos blah blah and it can't be done, but it's being done?
-
Hurr durr I'm Intel and I sell shit for the price of gold

He got inb4 @angstrom
-
At least it wasn't "how to x" without a question mark, making the thread look like a how-to guide..
-
The prem side. Pretty much for me (with 1 exception) if it's not Ryzen, it's not prem. Tldr smallweb is prem

My hardware is set to the strict factory standard configuration, no alternative settings, so blow down of course. I suspect you may be into swinging both ways with the direction, si or no?
-
Of course, insert bolt into gape and screw firmly.
