Resources allocated to the forum aren’t available for customers. So it basically costs him money.
-
The only thing that I’m afraid of as an end user is that overselling will increase. More users per core could become the new revenue model due to this pricing.
-
So, basically this would mean a $1-$1.50 price hike per user. High but not so insane that the vast majority of providers wouldn’t do it. And that’s how they get you.

But we want our unsustainable lower than low offers :(

Seems they still accept orders. Payment in the checkout process is limited to direct debit, but in the customer area everything seems still available. Didn't really pay of course, so not 100% sure.

I’d like one with NVMe <3. Why aren’t they here yet though?
-
To be fair, I think WHMCS lets you only enter one discount code :# (and most will be expired too).

One of the things for me in this case was that I'm fairly new to these forums. I knew the 'low end universe' before (had services with OVH, Online, Liteserver, First Root, UltraVPS before registering on LET) but had no idea of all the different providers and promotions. As far as I was concerned, HostDoc had a very good…

Erith EPYC is still online. Migrated from Xeon to EPYC on 27th of January. It’ll be gone in 12 days.

I didn't do a chargeback on my credit card because I always learned this'll probably cost you your PayPal account (and possibly more). At the time I failed the complaint, I still had the faint hope of getting a reply from HostDoc. This won't be happening, so now I've escalated it to a claim as per @AnthonySmith's post. And…

Yes and no. Deals or promotions don't have to be a problem as @seriesn pointed out in his current sales thread. Problem with HostDoc was that their deals and promos were ongoing. That they didn't offer a (say) 30% recurring discount, but 70%. And all this on brand new hardware. Another business model (that we see a lot in…

I'm worried about @seriesn wallet too. How is this even sustainable?!
-
I filed a complaint through PayPal directly after reading this. Still thinking about escalating it to PP rightaway. Normally I'd give him a few days to reply. Of course he won't reply.

Me neither. That’s why I purchased a VPS from this guy. Not the most expensive, but certainly not at an unbelievably low price either. Almost everyone was positive about Hostdoc. I thought it was because I’m fairly new in this LE universe that I fell “for the same trick” @deank refers to, but still. They had a good…

This guy again. You won't find anything for your budget. Either pay more or learn how to properly run a server.

Personally I’ve never experienced any trouble with HostDoc. Had a small UK VM at theirs at a reasonable price. Performed well over the last months and since it got migrated to an EPYC it performed great. Used it for some testing, so I’m going to have it replaced. Looking at his public record over here and at the old place…

Still if you’re explicitly dealing with EU customers, you’ll have to conform to GDPR rules.

This is true as well of course. These providers don’t just own a DC but own vast complexes. That being said, I wouldn’t know if their Ryzen dedis are 1U, 2U or maybe even 4U. Maybe @Hetzner_OL or @ninzo59 will share this information (probably not, but can’t blame me for trying).
-
I do understand the Ryzen hype train, but I’m still a bit weary of using them. Fact is: these are consumer grade CPU’s designed for desktops. Not for servers. This is no problem when using them for your own hobby VM or dedi, but I wouldn’t use them for production environments. EPYC on the other hand... Companies like…

I see that “if it’s free, you’re the product” is still valid in 2020. To be honest, this is to be expected. It’s why I actually pay for antivirus. If you don’t want to pay or can’t pay, you’re better off with using Microsoft Defender (yeah, really).
-
Speeds seem to be all over the place, but I think this uses Speedtest.net api so it’s expected. With iperf it evens out to ~2,5 Gbps on most European locations.

My home ISP started rolling out DS IPv6 after literally years of testing and delays (saying it was an unnecessary extra). But I finally have IPv6 at home now. With a /48(!) subnet. I can’t even calculate how much addresses are in a subnet. IPv6 networking is still black magic for me as well. So I just delegated a /64…
