If you're spending money anyway, may I suggest looking into usenet instead? Similar usage case, much less legal risk Unless its a peer pressure thing from his friends in which case you're kinda stuck I'd probably go for something specifically outside the EU though

Also worth checking out /r/udemy ...there are daily lists of 100% discounts there...usually about 20 a day. So if you monitor that for a couple weeks you can get damn near any tech

Depends on what. Personal / backend - UK so that it's near me. Blog type stuff US to be near target audience. Typing with 100ms latency SSH is a pain though ..and lately been experimenting with edge stuff.

VPS the dude in Bulgeria. Was pretty legit even back then. 1 EUR a month if memory serves so would be competitive even now

I would. I don't think the free plan is an issue here since we're not really relying on CF for much. Just DNS which as @sanvit points out even under free plan CF has plenty of POPs. The "inferiority" of free CF is more when you're actively using their network for caching i.e. orange clouded. And even that I've not…

Yeah 3x free ipv4 seems quite a lot True. TBH though it would mostly be for API calls for storage so shouldn't exceed 1gb free allowance. Depends on what you do I guess Their documentation is self contradictory. Says $1 min on front page and $10 recharge every 12 months in the docs…

No commercial stuff unless you have a provider tag (looks similar to the OG one next to my name). I do believe the actual ads in the forum are open to all though. @mikho is the guy to speak to on that

I've recently discovered that bunnycdn for this is actually excellent for this despite me initially shitting on them. Basically a FTP folder you drop your static stuff in there and it serves it with https...in a edge distributed manner. So its both fast and simple because there is no server per se. Not free, but the…

Using ext4. Mostly because single drive so didn't really see the point in extra complications. Might try ZFS on next complete rebuild. That'll hopefully be a way off though. And by then hopefully added more drives.
