That's a lot of servers @Ouji I'm planning on consolidating with docker configs on larger VPS. Makes sense to have it consolidated to maximize each tasks ability to peak temporarily in that larger resource pool. Basically a 3vcore NVMe KVMs on each side of Atlantic. One to host public facing stuff, the other for special…

Might do that once. But repeatedly rolling demo doesn't sit right with me personal ethics wise.

I've tried the monetization first, content 2nd route. Unsurprisingly that went nowhere. So looking at doing it right this time - content first. But doing it right extends to SEO optimised too. I'd like it if people actually see the content :p Plus I opted for something a bit more hardcore than WP - wagtail - so the usual…

What are you hosting this on? Tried recently & it seemed very fussy on requirements

Home "server" (aka my old laptop) has a docker setup file server * pi-hole * Various usenet flavoured stuff * Backup destination for low value big volume data (high value gets pushed to cloud) * Deluge - legal nix torrents...fat home pipe so when I download a distro it stays there to seed * BOINC - has been running 2 years…

2vcpu (20%), NVme, gigabit link, say 2 ram and a newish ubuntu image Big fan of boxes that I can rebuild fast more than idle tbh. (That def totally doesn't have anything to do with my go to troubleshooting strategy being nuke it from orbit)

Dunno but I occasionally check in on youtuber HBPowerwall - he's always busy tinkering with this kind of stuff & I like his down to earth style (no affiliation)

Yeah think I have some of your 256mbs. Might post something elaborate in technical section at a later stage, but getting some blog stuff up and running is priority
-
ah didn't realise they had a free tier - will check. I was looking at their mail+vpn BF stuff but their lack of proper IMAP just doesn't work for me
-
Gonna try to roll my own after having lost faith in PIA. If that doesn't work I'll go Proton
-
I'm def not renewing PIA after them being acquired recently. Gonna try my luck running own VPN

Yeah I guess the credit route has advantages. Effectively discounts the entire range of products by a %. My idea of spending big is 15 USD a month so maybe not the target audience lol
-
Opted for beefier stuff this year to play with docker/caching/database stuff. Yeah have some 128mb kicking around too. Might be useful for distributed scraping of websites.

Never understood the appeal tbh. Complicates the calculation of how much to load & is inherently non-recurring.
-
Yeah initial plan was to spin up some azure servers and use the siege app. Couple of those could sink anything. ...but that would have looked like a DoS attempt so yeah no
-
What did you use to load test it? Recently played with loader.io vs wordpress a bit. Can't take a lot even on a beefy machine...until you enable caching that is.

Nice one. Grab some. Spent a bit more than planned but oh well
