How about a simplified guideline or checklist to see if a host offering services is a scam-host? From what I see on LET, most people do not know the tell-tale signs of a scam host (including me apparently since I got scammed twice). Most of you here have more experience and knowledge that you can contribute to creating a…

I run a custom PHP script that connects to open ports on my regular servers and sends me a notification if the server failed to connect after 6 attempts. Pool the data from 3 or 4 of these servers distributed all over the world, and you have a moderately good uptime tracker. Take a look at this opensource version:…

Botnet! I usually use them as uptime trackers or private VPNs.

Sh*t... I wanted my 4th singapore KVM VPS...

WTF! I can't believe it! We are in Q3 of 2020! Terahost? 2~4 letter name starting/ending with host? Have seen a few of them go belly tits up

Bought the lowest plan. Hope there isn't any weird capping on it.

As the spammers say, very informative post. Thank you. Sad to see a good host turn scammer...

Host doc went from recommended to scam. How long was I away for?
-
Wait, wasn't host doc supposed to be a good host? What happened?

Double the protection, double the safety, double the data breach chance.

LOL, isn't that a given? Avast started showing up with ads and making pc slow. So wiped system and reinstalled OS.

Similar, but different. First, get a cheap vps with fixed ip. Then forward ports using reverse SSH tunneling. Here is a guide I wrote: https://somik.org/persistent-reverse-tunnel-using-autossh/

Previously used avast. Then switched to panda. Now using a readonly version of porteus Linux with preconfigured pi hole based adblocker. Still using panda on Windows gaming machine, that gets powered on over the weekends...

Haha, yep! I heard large primes tend to make a hash algo produce better results, so ya.

Erm, @uptime 18435599767349200867867 No one set a limit to number of digits

Cool! I contributed 0.05% of that. Lol

Wait, I missed something. Why are people posting numbers?

I thought we would be lancing for free... I even brought my own lance and horse...

If you got an Nat vps, it should come with a IPv4 port range with a custom SSH port. Check your activation email for details. If you're using the correct ping for IPv6 with -6 and it doesn't respond, the VPS may not be online or working. If support doesn't reply. Get a refund from your payment processor.

@poisson GPU passthough will give you video. You'll need at least 3 cards, 1 for Linux, 1 for windows, 1 for proxmox. If you count the built in one, and your existing gfx card, then you'll need one more. You also need keyboard and mouse and thumbdrive. So you'll need to get two pcie USB controller and passthrough it as…

Isn't your thread of LET still unresolved? Or is this a continuous offer?
-
Consolidate it into dedis, but keep the vps as is. * pro idler.

I regret buying 4pcs of 256 GB micro SD card 2 weeks before black friday... I could have saved $40 dollar if I waited just 2 weeks...
-
Sigh. Actually that's a good idea. If the traffic is coming from a residential IP most hosts won't suspect foul play or that it's from a VPN or proxy. The only issue is that there is no user consent. They should have offers that give something back to those that want to host the VPN servers.

I think your proxmox isn't configured correctly. The most common issue of proxmox not booting is if you set up the drives incorrectly. Proxmox 6 let's you do this from gui so Less chance of you messing it up (compared to proxmox 4). I've been using proxmox since 4 and find 5 and 6 much more stable.

The best way is, warn, refund & terminate. If you don't refund, then they'll call you a scam. If you don't warn, they'll be bitchy. I think if the host care that much about their status, they should be asking for personal details and verifying it before activating service.

+1 to that. Ebay is great if you pay with PayPal. You can get your money back easily. Amazon is crap if outside US. If I have to send back something with my own shipping cost, that cost me more then the product.

Updated theme. Now you can set your own color scheme by just editing just CSS 8 color codes! Default is black & green. You can set it to any color of your choice. https://userstyles.org/styles/177233/lowendspirit

Bro, I was just joking. I know the lottery was genuine. Hope you understand.
