    Production sites on low end hosts? Good luck!

    I speak fluent sarcasm and broken logic. | I would agree with you, but thæn we’d both be wrong.

  • Actually, they are only suitable for personal applications, meaning low-load use cases. Given such low prices, overselling is definitely a serious issue, and with a one-person support team, response times are bound to be slow.

    So if you are planning to run production workloads, I recommend going with a more reliable provider. But for non-critical workloads, their value for money is still very high.

    Yeah, it really matters how you're defining "production".

    Unpopular opinion. But, having multiple home is much secure than a single home

    import math def hosts_needed(desired_uptime, host_uptime): return math.ceil(math.log(1 - desired_uptime) / math.log(1 - host_uptime)) def main(): desired_uptime = 0.99999 host_uptime = 0.999 print(hosts_needed(desired_uptime, host_uptime)) if __name__ == "__main__": main()

    I use 2 of their storageboxes (which are DirectAdmin based) but made for storage as backup targets. I also have 1 hybrid VPS with block storage attached for a different backup use case. So these aren't truly production, they are redundant backups.

    I have had these only since earlier this year, but so far they have been fine. Support response time varies I usually get a response within 4-12 hours, for low priority queries, sometimes a bit longer if the ticket goes in during overnight (EU) hours. I have not had any urgent support tickets to gauge response time.

    I am not telling you to use them that is up to you, just letting you know my experience.

    Also if you use their older ordering page you might find a few deals, but most of these are mirrored on the new fancy site.

  • I can only speak to having two (BF 2024) storage boxes with HostBRR for personal use. They have been rock solid for me.

    I have been collecting elastic bands since 1992.

    I'm having a "EPIC-EPYC Anniversary" with additional 1TB HDD since April, using it for Immich/Opencloud etc. Mostly it runs fine, had a network outage about 1h 20min end of June, 40min some weeks ago and from last sunday the load on the box was much higher then before. According to iostat sda had 100% utilization all the time, but no iowait. I created a ticket on monday morning and got an answer in the evening that some mdadm resnc was in progress leading to the issues which was finished then.. According to LinkedIn Labze works at Rackhosting Full Time since March, so maybe he has no time for hostbrrr during the workday.

  • My Reseller is from (Sep 02, 2023)... Only like 3-4 high priority tickets... For me the support is +A and the servers are stable ( actually have Jetbackup reported bug, but i sync backups to another server too ).
