v6Node.com - IPv6 only KVM Nodes

Hi,

During the past few months, I've been working on a new project which is based on my recently developed billing/ provisioning panel for canvay.io.

I'm now extending into the KVM segment with a different brand, let me introduce you to https://v6node.com
For years, I've been powering my own infrastructure primarily with IPv6 only.
This led me to build a simple, automated platform focused on IPv6-only hosting.

You can deploy KVM-based nodes in Germany with Singapore/ US to follow soon.

Each node comes with a /64 IPv6 subnet and NAT64/DNS64 server to reach IPv4-only systems like Github.

There's also a custom reverse proxy integrated with support for as domains as you want, all with zero config SSL by default.
Port forwarding/ NAT for IPv4 will arrive in the next 1-2 weeks.
Routed IPv6 subnets will follow, both will be available for existing customers as well of course

I've created a few introduction offers for you, with recurring pricing
You can pay via Apple Pay, Google Pay, Credit/ Debit card, or SEPA.
Billing is handled via Stripe

Node S

  • 1 CPU
  • 0.5GB RAM
  • 5GB Disk
    4.5€ /year with code 50OFF

Node M

Features

  • Custom-developed and easy-to-use management interface
  • Outgoing IPv4 still reachable thanks to preconfigured NAT64/DNS64 nameserver
  • Integrated Reverse Proxy with automated SSL setup
  • Pure ZFS SSD/ NVMe storage with Raid 1/ 10
  • Dedicated /64 IPv6 subnet
  • PTR/ rDNS is possible, just create a ticket
  • Debian 11 / Ubuntu 22.04 / Alma Linux available based on minimal cloud images
  • 2TB Traffic per Month (more should be no problem, just pop in a ticket)
  • Hosted at Hetzner, Germany
  • VNC is possible but not automated yet, just create a ticket

Happy to hear your feedback!

there's no exact eta yet but you can help by filling the nodes in Germany :)

  • Is the NAT64 gateway locally hosted, or is it a public NAT64 server?

What's the allowance for persistent CPU usage?
(note: "fair use" and "we will contact you if you affect other users" are not valid answers, but a percentage lower than actual limit is fine)

Can we sign up for Germany and transfer out to Singapore once that is up and running?

    Thx

Sounds cool, if people really were out to use IPv6, that is. I am sure @yoursunny will do some extra push-ups to get this :D

It's a public one hosted on the same network.
But feel free to replace it with a nameserver of your choice.
I'll set up our own instance in the coming days

There is no exact limit on the CPU usage yet, to be honest.
The current policy is to make reasonable use of the service, but if you're planning on hammering the CPU with transcoding or similar tasks, I'd recommend that you switch to a more appropriate plan :)

I don't get any VPS without clear CPU guidelines.
"20%" is low but OK; "33%" is better; not telling is unacceptable.

My apps are usually using only 3~10% CPU persistently.
It may spike to 70~90% when I'm importing new push-up video, doing backups, pulling Docker image, etc.
100% CPU lasting hours happened in 2017 when someone triggered a bug resulting in packet loops; fifty nodes were affected until global operator turned off the whole network and rebooted.
To reduce the impact I set CPU limits to 20% via Docker, but I can't do so if provider won't tell the limit.

    Yea I totally agree.

20-30% sustained should be fine, if you need more just pop in a ticket and we can discuss a different solution with dedicated resources :)

    Yep! :)
    More servers = more fun

Singapore will most likely come with larger subnets out of the box, I'm aiming for a routed /56 per node.
The current German location will also switch to fully routed subnets, I'm currently implementing the necessary backend changes

  • With the coupon Sale/BF pricing (with IPv4), without to expensive.
If you would offer NAT v4 connectivity, with forwarded ports and a /64 per VM, might be a decent deal.

    Thank you for your feedback.

Yes, I agree, this might not be the most competitive pricing this community has seen, but I prefer charging a few bucks more and provide an actually sustainable and non oversold service to the user.

Shared IPv4 with forwarded ports and routed IPv6 will be a great addition coming in the next weeks.
I'm always happy for your feature requests, I'm developing the whole platform by myself, there are lots of possibilities for future features :)

  • @iandk said: 2TB Traffic per Month (more should be no problem, just pop in a ticket)

Could there be a clear traffic limitation?
Since you provide reverse proxy domain and plan to set up locally hosted NAT64 gateway and shared IPv4 with forwarded ports, it's still better deal comparing with scaleway stardust (without ipv4). I just wonder how much traffic would you allow, as the scaleway stardust would allow much traffic usage (like 10T traffic).

  • iandkiandk Hosting ProviderOG

The default limit is 2TB at the moment, but I should be able to increase it up to 5TB.

I'll post a clear statement on traffic in the next few days, just give me some time to think about it

  • @iandk said: I should be able to increase it up to 5TB.

5TB is enough for many people (like me) I think =)
A small suggestion: you can limit the network speed to a smaller one like 10mbps when traffic is over 5TB, rather than suspend the vm. I have many nat vps from mrvm and webhorizon, they handle traffic overuse this way, which won't make user afraid of traffic overuse problem.

    Thanked by (1)iandk
  • iandkiandk Hosting ProviderOG

That's exactly how the current setup is :)
If your traffic limit is reached the node will be limited to 10mbps
