Almost guaranteed to be expensive, plus it seems that one will need to use their proprietary software, and it's not clear whether Linux will be supported For the general public, It sounds like a no-go

I think that the following comment on that page (by the moderator USAFRet) makes sense:
-
What was the solution? :)

I hope that this doesn't count as a necro, but I just wanted to share my netcup cup, which arrived today: :) The three sweets were in the cup, which was a nice touch :)

Yeah, I took a look at their GitHub, but there's virtually no documentation available, so they clearly don't intend for Internxt to be self-hosted, and I strongly suspect that there's a (non-open-source) piece or two (or three) missing that would prevent it from working even if one tried to figure it out without…

I see what you're saying, and no doubt many providers would agree with you about such a restriction, but at the same time, from an end-user point of view, it's not so great, especially because it's often not so obvious at the time of purchase unless one studies the ToS. Anyway, as I tried to say above, if a provider allows…

Oh, I see, clever: they would have fooled me! I think that I can resist this one :) Is the whole thing (clients and server) really open source? (They seem to say that it is.) If so, then couldn't one in principle self-host an Internxt server?
-
Only 2GB and not 10GB? I thought that it was "Enjoy up to 10GB forever" :)
-
Oh, of course: I scrolled down that page too quickly! =) Okay. :)

It's not so good that some providers make this restriction, but I guess that it makes it easier for them to oversell storage space. By the way, does your provider allow one to install Nextcloud or ownCloud via Softaculous? If so, this would presumably be a legitimate way of storing files in your storage space.

Just curious: if one signs up, do they give a download link to the desktop client? I don't see a page about this on their site.
-
Alles klar :)
-
Just curious: where did you see this amount (40 million USD)?

My final revision: Love of Valencia and being In Valencia and LTD addiction and FOMO would definitely make this offer super incredibly irresistible. :)
-
I see. :) Let me revise slightly what I said: Love of Valencia and being In Valencia and LTD addiction would definitely make this offer super irresistible. :)
-
Hey, love of Valencia and LTD addition would definitely make this offer irresistible -- I understand. :) I appreciate your honesty. :)

For the time being, they're still riding on venture capital and on money from lifetime subscriptions, but it's hard to say how long this will last
-
Yes, indeed, too good to be true.
-
I appreciate your honesty. :) We're all victims of FOMO at times. :) Correct me if I'm wrong, but all of the "media" coverage seems to come from Spain, or is there a convincing piece somewhere that doesn't come from Spain?

The analogy with E. Holmes is pretty apt (even if fvsegarra is a less dramatic example than she is). I'll grant that such people are brilliant in their ability to convince others of a "revolutionary" vision based on a certain idea. But back to fvsegarra and Internxt*: I'll stick to my view that hype and hyperbole are…

Yes, they (Telefonica) probably are. (But let's not ignore the "Spanish Google Drive" factor.) That said, I'm obviously not in a position to evaluate Internxt. I just wanted to point out that we had seen this guy before and that (therefore) one should remain prudent about all of this.
-
Yes, this is my impression as well :/
-
What is striking to me is simply the contrast: people (including you) were rightly skeptical earlier, and now everyone seems to be more than willing to throw their money at him/them. I would say that this guy fvsegarra is a (very) smooth operator -- this was my impression earlier as well -- and critical elements of the…

Just as a heads up, see my post in that thread on OGF I don't think that I'll fall go for it, but to each their own

It would be interesting to learn what really happened, but until @MaxKVM decides to say more, we can only speculate
