I hear they are prem

I think it's fair to say that if you are looking to host the next Twitter your options would be enterprise only and it would almost never make sense ever to work with a low-end provider. For everything else that would comfortably run on a single dedicated server or two, low-end land is worth looking into. I'm talking…

Sir, Nexus bytes got you covered.. welcome to ze family :)
-
Nexus Bytes is very sexy (in a George Clooney kinda way) Agreed 100% - not the lowest priced host, but definitely affordable and absolutely worth it.

Same, got it delivered but haven't played with it yet. Too prem and cheap to let pass. Can bench it if you want.
-
I really want a self hosted hetrixtools server monitor, but there's always hetrixtools.
-
Yes it works on any KVM VPS from any provider. You can install it on top of Debian 10 and it's quite lightweight. That said, it might not be the best option but worth mentioning.
-
Have a look at Proxmox. You can get the best of both worlds, webui with console, easy to use, set up anything as a file backend etc etc all with LXC.
-
I can't believe nobody mentioned NexusBytes!!
-
No worries, for me, Melbourne it is then! :)

To be perfectly honest I am very much in love with Ryzen and NVMe these days and the closer to home (Brisbane) the better and I value ($) that accordingly. My primary use is a family Plex server and remote Linux desktop. I can "feel" the Ryzen and NVMe when using the desktop. In saying that - I'd be as happy as a pig in…
-
Stay in Australia, if you can get something in Brisbane I'll love you long time. Edit: @seriesn is right. Honestly I couldn't care less which DC is providing the service unless it only mattered for some specific technical reason. It's just low-end politics.
-
Congratulations on the expansion!
-
Is it possible to get nested virtualization enabled to run a small KVM guest?
-
Lololol
-
Yeah you've completely put me off using that now. The whole aim of my setup is to have a very light footprint on CPU and especially IO...
-
I looked into it and realised I don't need PBS, just sticking to Google drive for now. I have found a use for the box though as a small filerun install. Seems much lighter than nextcloud so far. Absolutely! You just set up a NAT and route away.
-
Thanks for that! I install proxmox off debian base also and am happy to hear it's possible with the backup server. It's on my to-do list now haha
-
Nexus Bytes is definitely awesome and is my pedestal piece. @seriesn also gentle lover and strong on plow.
-
I usually throw proxmox on any VPS I get with 1GB or more, everything I do is all in lxc containers for easy management, super lightweight. I could install proxmox within proxmox on a KVM guest and nest it until some kind of nesting limit is reached (wonder if such thing exists?) But.. with a fair share nature of storage…
-
Nice deal, grabbed one to idle until I decide what to use it for. Backups of backups of backups (backup inception?) perhaps..
-
Nice work getting that working @FAT32 I generally find on low RAM systems (think the big 'mach) that debian 9 with a 1GB swap will handle itself quite well and is reasonably updated and supported by the majority of things I use. 1gb of prem nexus bytes nvme is probably going to feel like real RAM anyway depending on how…

lol.. I believe that we learn something new everyday. Sorry to derail the thread, I'll see myself out. But before I do, I use Adblock Plus.. if anyone knows a reason why I shouldn't use it, I'd love to learn something else today..

Did you just mansplain marketing to me? /s ;)
-
Yeah the clouvider ad is the tackiest of them all imo, way too siezure-inducing lol
