Nice. As keen as I am on data protection & GDPR...that cookie banner law was one of the worst things to ever happen to humanity. Really should have been written in a way that doesn't require that no-value added annoyance.

Haven't tried either but reddit talks about seafile + photoprism a lot https://www.reddit.com/r/selfhosted/comments/9op2kn/photoprism_new_selfhosted_free_software_photo/

Neither of those are backup solutions? borg, restic, duplicati etc are

You're gonna take a mega SEO hit on that if I'm not mistaken. Subdomains are scored separately so basically start from zero

Yeah when offering a service to other for payment then I'd def expect ECC to be considered. Sorry above comment wasn't really meant to be dismissive of your usage case. I just think Torvalds point is a little too broad & overstated in that a big chunk of computers are used to FB and browse cat pictures...not exactly…

Yeah saw that - was an interesting read. Didn't know one could monitor it. I think the relative importance of risks is also worth keeping in mind though. I'm not in charge of a datacenter so my data losses are more likely to be from a bad config / backup /vulnerability not on point etc than rowhammer or a cosmic bit flip.…

If someone is keen on it why not. It's gonna be pretty tame anyway given it's a smallish community & isn't big on discussing politics/religion/etc Can't the software accommodate this at only admin level? i.e. much like reddit...the mods can't see IPs, only reddit employees can Else perhaps an auto-modder. If it gets…

CF personally Some of the bigger boys seem to prefer fastly over cloudflare, but no personal experience

No separate tool - InfluxDB 2 has charting built in. So much easier than a prometheus+grafana stack. There is always netdata. They've got a live demo on their site & install is like a 2 minute job. Though not technically an uptime tool I guess. Or zabbix if you like complicated.

$7 PM 4x Ryzen something 16GB 4TB transfer 60 NVMe...I think...maybe 40 2019 vintage one from @seriesn is still setting the bar for me. Vintage indeed - genuine collectors piece: If the specs sound fuzzy that's because it is. Because it's a once-off I can't find any record of what exactly it is lol. It was also born as a…

Hearing about notion more & more. I've been burned by proprietary note taking systems before though. The vendor lock in is off the charts if all your knowledge is on it Busy moving towards a git/md/obsidian combo

Just be sure to have a backup & plan B. They fucked over a bunch of people by killing trials unexpectedly

Glorified SSH scripting tool really. Which is a feature not a bug - you can use it everywhere & for anything. I'm liking it though. Combined with a virtualization solution that allows CLI control you can spin up VMs etc. No trivial, but doable with some time & patience
-
Loads of ways to skin that cat, but I predict you'll have a tough time if you aren't familiar with any of it. I'd personally go with ansible instead. If it's the same thing over & over just throw that in a script and then run it against whatever server you have. Will be easier than the other routes imo given the mixed…

Do you have control over the client side? Or are these customers thus the need to force it via config? I generally just used a bridge and hardcoded whatever I needed into the VM setup/client interfaces file

Didn't know one could edit titles on here...unusual for most forums
-
High end typo in title lol. I'm just glad I'm a consumer in this mess lol Has no impact on any of this. You can bill clients in Canadian rubles if you like

Rules free - sure. Most suppliers seem to gravitate towards the sub 7 price point anyway Maybe split by dedi vs vps? Or some other sensible split Pool seems fun, but everything in one seems a little heavy
