Can nice LESbians request for special treatment and unthrottling? P.S: I heard from some spirits that there's something rotten in NL and that the clouds are going to whisk it away? I assume that means more good stuff is on the cards?
-
Whenever I've needed it, it's been consistent 100Mbit and no issues whatsoever. It's a very dependable little box for simple little network checks, mtr's, traceroute's and the likes.

Just to nitpick, I've never managed to get > 100 Mbps on the Netherlands NAT instance and I always assumed it was (intentionally) throttled to 100 Mbit. It's never bothered me apart from me not being able to beat the other 2 NAT VMs on benchmarks

If you are willing to pay annually, the 2GB RAM version costs ~26.5€/year (which is excellent - they are a solid provider). You can also prepay for 2 years to get an additional discount. Why don't you just try through their order link and see what suits you? The resources for that price point are far above what you have…

I completely deny I have an addiction. Now if you'll excuse me... I'll have to get back to watching them deals.

I have a bundle from a year ago (coming up for renewal). For me PHX is xxx.xxx.xx.44 and UK/NL are likely the same. I'm not sure if there are multiple nodes or multiple IPv4s for the same node. Perhaps @AnthonySmith can clarify. Since it's an "auto-allocation", I'm sure it's a hit or miss as to which IP you'll end up…

Just getting around to catch up on the giveaways : Order #5186167037

Correct. @Falzo mentioned something along € 2 per core (so usually not worth it as this in itself may be the cost of the VM). The RS line has dedicated threads - you can use them 24/7 100% but from what I've seen the performance does drop. So there is definitely some throttling going that reduces throughput a fair bit for…

Actually I've not had a bad experience (so far!) at all. I have one of those smallish Atoms and it's just worked. No hardware issues so far and I've only had to ask for an IPv6 allocation (they don't provide it automatically like Online.net does for whatever reason but they give you the same DUID that Online does - so it's…

Why the hatred towards One Provider (or is it the French)?
-
Agreed. I think though that during the Advent calendar (or maybe Easter) they do seem to have shorter contract durations. I just feel that the higher end plans should have shorter durations as they are practically speaking vDedi's and while there are people with longer term use cases, it's nice to reward the "smaller…

IIRC, last year for BF one of the VPSs was 6 month prepaid but it could be cancelled any time (i.e. +30 days from "now" I think) and they would refund the excess paid. The VPSs I'm OK with yearly as they are relatively low priced. I think the higher configurations should have been a bit more flexible. But it is what it is…

I'm not yet very excited about the Netcup offers so far. Somehow the price-resource ratio is a bit warped (IMHO) and every VPS offer so far is a yearly lock in. I think previously there were offers with more cores (though older generation), more disk space on either monthly or quarterly terms. I'm following their posts…

It is not. It is at a different DC in Montreal (or thereabouts). Latency to BHS is very good, but network throughput depends and varies. But it is pretty much the best non-OVH option in the vicinity for storage. Cross Atlantic throughput is quite painful (vs OVH for example). YMMV.

@Not_Oles - Happy Thanksgiving and stay warm (but not too hot) in the Sonoran desert. Thanks to LES, there is something positive to look forward to and get into that Z(X?)en state when scouting for deals to satisfy that primordial urge of just getting that true value deal to never let go off for some time (till the next…

Yes - it is raidz2 (and due to Xen limitations (I think) they provide disks in 2TB (max) chunks to a total of your allocated disk size). They are using a ZFS based SAN.
-
Completely agree and I totally missed reading this initially (I think it was added later). I always assumed this was the norm but I didn't realize that there were people buying more than 1 for themselves (presumably to stack)?

@kmessy - I think you misunderstood @CamoYoshi's post on the provider tag - it has to be granted to you by @AnthonySmith if you are posting something on behalf of or as an official representative of a particular provider. It is always good to have official provider participation though and I'm sure @AnthonySmith will be…
-
@Not_Oles - I'm assuming you're looking for storage near the Sonoran desert and if so, @AnthonySmith is your best bet. @vimalware has been very happy with his Phoenix storage box and I think you will find it perfect (and well priced) for your needs, assuming that you can snag one (I'm sure Anthony can reserve one for…

Just to add to @Falzo 's points, usually the lower end/priced offers of Netcup disappear very quickly. The high resource deals are a bit easier to get but they're usually/mostly locked in for 12 month contract (with the usual Netcup cancellation of at least 30/31 days in advance). I've gradually reduced my Netcup spend…

I totally understand and certainly don't expect any of the super powers (or moderators) to police. What does help though (coming from a regular user like me) is knowing that there is an official position in that these unethical practices are in the wrong. An odd mistake here and there is not an issue but if it becomes…

@AnthonySmith - not being a sourpuss, but I think do no harm (to anyone) should be a fundamental principle here. While the affiliate link may not "cost" the user (and of course due diligence and caveat emptor applies), obfuscating them or otherwise trying to leverage them for personal gain is very misleading in the least.…

Hi @Abdullah - adding my thoughts here (note that these are "me centric" notes, so may not be too relevant to generalize on but I still think it is useful in part). I have a bunch of NAT instances from all the good providers here (Mikho/Ant/Cam - not tagging intentionally avoid needlessly notifying them). Mostly they are…

Isn't it (ridiculously) expensive? IIRC it was something like € 50 or thereabouts - right? Also, is this freely assignable to any dedi or is this "locked" into some Dedi like an IPv4 addon? I really hope that at some point in the near future Hetzner will offer a paired IPv6 /64 with every additional IPv4 (paid). It seems…
-
IMHO, that is relatively small and straightforward (vs dealing with myriad DNS provider APIs). Also, beware that there is some not-too-small latency with many providers before the DNS change is "refreshed". Usually I've had the best/lowest latency on the changes with Cloudflare (they seem to have overall best anycast…
