We already had a thread for that, which is still active. This one seems like grave dancing.

Cociu had a zany hosting style and some of us liked it that way. A more "professional" approach wouldn't be the same. I wouldn't put any type of professional site on HS but for personal and hobby stuff, a little bit of adventure now and then keeps things interesting.
-
It's really weird, jsg was once a big attacker of HS.
-
Do I want to know what the new update says? I do see that one of my two 1tb storage plans (the same one as before) is still up. So there's that.
-
Yeah I was thinking of suggesting opening a ticket with them, alternatively.
-
A few months back my storage kvm changed from a different address to the range that was just sold. Now I wonder whether that was also some kind of asset sale. I don't think I have any chance of getting money back but I figured I was taking a chance when I bought in the first place, and I think I'm not in for that much rn.…

How much more IP space does he have left?
-
Do you mean the one that says May 12 on HS? I don't see any newer ones.
-
Heh I forgot, I guess he never had ipv6. NAT would be ok except it would surely get ddos'd. Well as always, I hope Cociu gets out of this predicament in one piece.
-
Yep mine too. I'd actually be ok with v6-only if he can get the stuff running again, but it sounds too much like circling the drain.

That graph shows the 14TB drive going from $400 to the current $615. First of all that's a 54% jump but not double or triple. Second $615 for 14TB is a steep even today: that drive is $475 locally around here right now. Third I'm really surprised that the 14TB was ever as low as $400 though I guess it's possible that I…

I'd be interested in seeing an ad from February at that price. It is astonishingly low. They were never anywhere that low over here, I'm pretty sure.
-
I'm not familiar with that model but my local store has 16TB WD gold enterprise drives for 600 USD. I don't know if it's higher than before but it's definitely not double or triple. Also here is an 18TB Ultrastar Helioseal for $689: https://www.newegg.com/p/9SIA2W0CVT6705 Again I'm certain that drive was not 250EUR in…

The idea of HS flipping its HDD's to Chia farming is funny as hell, so it became kind of a meme, but it doesn't seem plausible. HDD's saw a small upwards price tick but not a huge one. I still see them in stores here for a little bit more than before. How can things be that much worse in RO? It's nothing like the 2008(?)…
-
Useless thread. All we can really do is understand that we took a gamble, and hope for the best. Best to merge this with the other HS thread if you ask me.
-
Yeah I got that same email just now. There are occasional storage offers comparable to HS on paper, but with less entertainment factor so maybe the value isn't the same, lol.
-
Hey, congrats (or something like that) to everyone involved. Anynode customers, you will be in good hands. Fran, will BuyVM anycast users have to add the Miami site once it is up? Of course that may be a welcome thing, but either way it's something to deal with.
-
At least around here there doesn't seem to have been a big jump in HDD or SSD prices. Maybe a small increase but no 2x out anything like that. Yeah I'm in same boat as Mason. I figure those of us who bought this stuff knew what we were getting into, so I hope it works out, but it not, oh well. LES is the Most Eisley…

Org-mode has a feature for this. I haven't used the feature but I do use org mode, so I should try the feature. https://orgmode.org/manual/Clocking-Work-Time.html#Clocking-Work-Time

I'm sure all the providers are quaking at the thought of jsg's blacklist. Lol.
-
Proof of recognizing traffic lights and bicycles... oh wait google did that.
-
What are exos drives? I'm used to seagate externals containing shitty SMR drives.

He mentioned some kind of 48 drive fiber storage back in 2017: https://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/2055222/#Comment_2055222

Looks like hdd's are still plentiful and stores are advertising to chia farmers. Prices might be up a little but nothing drastic.
-
I gotta wonder about what kind of power conditioning he might have been using. Is the claim actually that all those hdd's were fried?
