DigitalCloud API v2 is live: automate VPS provisioning, billing and reserved IPs

Disclosure: I represent DigitalCloud.

We have opened limited access to the DigitalCloud API v2. The public reference is already available, and the API is intended for customers who want to automate more than just creating a single server.

It currently covers:

  • VPS provisioning and the full instance lifecycle: start, stop, reboot, reinstall, upgrade and delete
  • asynchronous task tracking plus batch operations for fleets of VPS
  • plans, regions and OS/application catalog discovery
  • IPv4, IPv6, reverse DNS and portable Reserved IP management
  • account usage, invoices, invoice items and billing history
  • a public OpenAPI 3.0.3 specification for generating clients

Authentication uses separate API-user credentials with rotating JWT access and refresh tokens. API access itself has no extra fee; infrastructure created through it is billed the same way as through the customer portal.

A couple of points for transparency: access is currently granted manually in batches, there is no sandbox yet, and plan prices are not returned by the API.
