Wanna make a community Summer Host and offer a few free accounts?

It's already 95 degrees F here in the Sonoran Desert these past few days! 🔥☀️🔥

The Summer heat is beginning! And, Summer heat makes us think of Summer hosts!

In honor of the beginning of Summer, it might be interesting and educational to set up tools that beginning Low End hosts might use and maybe offer a few free VPSes or shared hosting for a short time.

It might be interesting and educational to experience a little of what it's like to use fully or partly closed source Low End host tools that ordinarily someone like me would try to avoid.

Also, maybe talking about how to set up a Low End Summer host here in this thread could interest those considering starting up as serious hosts.

initial questions

• Is it possible to set up free or trial basis accounts for proprietary web hosting management and VM administrative tools such that a working setup could be achieved cost free for a short time?

• What might be a good combination with which to start?

SolusVM and virtualizor offer trials, as does DA if that’s what you’re referring to.

Personally I think the easiest idea would be to get a cheap reseller account and use a free billing panel like box billing, but on here VPS sells better

Thank you for this suggestion! A cheap reseller account sounds like a great idea for simplicity, but a reseller account wouldn't give me the experience of installing, would it?

I suppose not, although you still get the experience of installing the billing panel. Otherwise I could see a nexusbytes or buyVM VPS being easy choices since they have free DA+Blesta all in one

It looks like WHMCS no longer has a free trial, but Blesta does. So, maybe try Blesta?

I did recommend that, it’s free and supports SolusVM for example

Who's making a summer host and trying to compete with me?
At yoursunny summer host Inc, I write my own platform software from scratch under an open source license.
I avoid use proprietary software because it's harder to customize and share the result of customization.

A while back illy hosting (are they still around) had posted offer for shared hosting using Cyberpanel (?) centoswebpanel something to consider.

And make your own Linux distro for the servers, calling it the "Queen of" distro.

Just spinup a $5 VPS on Vultr/DO/UpCloud and install all the shiz on it.

Now, don't take clients who can lose millions of $, hosting with you. It'd be good for hosting static personal sites or local SMEs who just want a web presence.
