See below, my assumption turned out to be wrong... Their other container VPS are on OV7, though. Just got my ticket answered (<30min!) and unfortunately, there is no OV7 yet for the storage VPS.
-
I was somehow under the assumption, that this only is true for my old box, but newly provisioned ones are OV7. (based on this community post) So yes, this is a big downer and be most likely the reason why I won't renew it after 6 years of service then. I am still on one of the grandfathered plans, that already includes the…

Not sure it that's the right place, but I thought I might share the halloween offer Time4VPS sent around via mail: Link: https://time4vps.com/storage-discount/ I am now in for more than 5 years on their 512GB storage server and it never let me down. Promo code also is valid for a biennially subscription, so the price is…
-
As far as I know, this is not (yet) possible.
-
How long did it take until you were able to log into SolusVM? It still tells me the provided user doesn't exist and (obviously) it can't be found below any of the other SolusVM users. Never mind, stored the wrong URL in my password manager for some reason... Sorry for that! :P
-
Damned, this time you got me! No idea what to use the server for at the moment... Might try it as a SFTP storage for Nextcloud or maybe SSHFS for Plex, no idea if this will work due to latency, however.
-
Great offer! If I didn't just renew my US server... Anyone around here, that has already used a service from CloudCone? :)
-
I did a similar thing for some time, but the clients that sent the data were servers from outside the network. But at some point I switched to a storage VPS and BorgBase, way less moving parts... By the way, the SynoCommunity repository offers borg: https://synocommunity.com/package/borgbackup Maybe you can reduce the…
-
Usually vnstat, but slurm when I feel fancy. :P
-
Just use Caddy and thank me later! :D https://caddyserver.com/
-
Great offer! Storage plan is especially tempting, but I have no idea about SSHFS performance with the high latencies to the US. Any thoughts?
-
Used the "Bare Metal" product offered by Vultr for something like this workload once: https://www.vultr.com/products/bare-metal/#pricing Worked great and process was as streamlined as we know it from the simple VPS setups. It's not cheap, however...
-
As far as I know, there is only a limit on the number of accounts that you can backup at the same time. But that shouldn't be a problem with your use case.
-
I used "MailStore Home" (https://www.mailstore.com/en/products/mailstore-home/) for this quite a few times lately, worked great! Just did a backup on the old an then restored it to the new server instead.
-
Node was very stable for years, but for a few months now it reboots every so often and it seems as if IO performance is suddenly very bad. Maybe connected?
-
Forget what I said above, I mixed it up and read is as the other way round...
-
You could use Owncloud / Nextcloud for the WebDAV part and simply mount your storage either directly in the system or by using the external storage feature. /EDIT/ Just to try to give a full answer: the above mentioned approach should work with any service proving WebDAV support, i.e. a simple Apache server or caddy server.
-
Aaand it happened again, I fell for the NAT bundle...damned! Let's see if I can find some use for them. :D Short question out of curiosity: Can they be independently renewed?
-
Just found the mail in my inbox and come here to check for the news. ;) Well, I have to admit I am feeling a bit sad about this change...even though it was supposed to happen at some point. I have this VPS now for almost 4 years and it's one of my "main VPS" running quite a few things - it never failed once during this…
-
What kind of sorcery is this?! Looks a bit like something straight out a mid 2000's movie...
-
Namecheap also allows to "share" the management of i.e. a domain of yours with other accounts. Does that qualify as "team account"?
-
An annual VirMach box, that has horrible I/O and high CPU steal, but has proven to be reliable and zero downtime so far. Whenever you deploy something, the load spikes pretty badly and it seems to take forever, but as soon as the containers are running, everything is fine. :P
-
I renewed my service back in 2019 before it expired, to lock in the old price - still one of my most reliable VPS! Even thought about keeping it afterwards, let's see... Maybe @Francisco brings his storage slabs to the EU until then! :D
-
Their DNS entry no longer resolves for me. Did you already kill them with your post? :D Well, it's even better than "just me" - which wire did they trip over?!
-
Let me forward this question to @Hetzner_OL
-
Nice find! Looks like they also got a nice API in preparation: https://dns.hetzner.com/api-docs/ Will have to follow this, could evolve to a pretty powerful service. :) Could also double as a pretty DDNS service with IPv6 support, always bugs me that Namecheap can't get that sorted out!
-
Pretty unlikely I would say, as this is a German company probably selling off their older equipment. ;) However, when not considering the shipping costs, this makes @Francisco 's offer look even better - pretty tempting even! If I only hat space for this...
-
Never had to do this myself yet, but I remember saving this to my bookmarks: Active Directory Migration Tool (ADMT) And maybe this guide goes along with it: http://www.rebeladmin.com/2019/01/step-step-guide-migrate-active-directory-2012-r2-active-directory-2019-powershell-guide/
-
@Hetzner_OL A quick question that crosses my mind every now and then: I am using Hetzner Cloud quite often to just test a few things here and there but sometimes even CX11 seems a bit to "powerful". :P It would be very nice to have a small (IPv6-only) instance (512MB RAM, 1vCPU, 10GB disk) for "next to nothing" - any plans…
-
Well, then let's start using all those precious resources! :)
-
Dammit! You just stole me about an hour of my lifetime. :D
-
Thank you so much! You just sent me down another rabbit hole to discover some nice services and solutions. :) As the SaaS solutions for MailScanner seem to be quite expensive and / or are not hosted within the EU, I might have to play a little bit with it myself. MailScanner + MailWatch looks like a neat solution, however,…
