Right back at ya! ;)

I have a VPS on AMSD029 and I would call it stable these days; this was not a migration though, it was a new purchase. As for migrations, I did BUF -> FRA without data and it worked flawlessly for me; the fact that FFME002 was hit by disk issues right after that is a different story  The only thing, to my…

Indeed. No email, and no information I could find on the Network Status page. While I understand that a host can face many challenges that cannot be predicted or immediately explained, this is not one of such situations. And the lack of a warning and the lack of information about why the change happened (Was it intentional…

Finally got to use the "Ryzen Migrate" button. BUF->FRA went without a hitch; all specs correct :+1: No OS was installed (i.e. you see things end with "No bootable device." when you check over VNC), but there are plenty of [Ryzen Compatible] templates available in Solus VM if you want to resolve that quickly. And, yeah,…

Same here, I had a couple of OpenVZ VPSes with ExtraVM for a couple of years until that particular offering was discontinued. I was unlucky enough to have been affected by one HW fault during that time, but at least it let me see that the level of service stays good not only when things are going well, but also, and…

This. 100%. I live in constant fear of accidentally clicking that button

Already having two lovely VPSes from IH in AMS saved me from an impulse buy. But I can't say I didn't feel an itch, lol.

An interesting idea. It never occurred to me that this was actually perfectly possible. Has anyone else been offering this? It seems like the perfect use case for a tiny NAT VPS; a truly low-end low-cost DNS server. I was trying to think of pitfalls, but so far the only thing that comes to mind is that the destination…

It used to be Firefox until they decided to f*ck with the UI and more in their typical Moz://a style. After that, I switched to Vivaldi and haven't looked back.

:+1: for Debian 11!

Well, I did it again. They say "don't put all your eggs in one basket"... but this is such a nice basket, damn it!

Another place to get it: https://order.wedos.com/en/domain/order.html?step=1&tld=eu If you select a registration period of 10 years and uncheck WEDOS EWM Monitoring in optional services below, the price will be 10 EUR (12.1 EUR with VAT). You can change currency in the top right corner of the page. Payment options:…

I guess the gods od VPS buying obsession have spared me today :) My own stupidity almost saved me from getting another VPS. Indeed, I forgot to choose yearly  Well, I did not resist this deal in the end. Seemed too good to pass up given that I actually am sort of in need of a backup VPS to replace an old one. My…

Inception Hosting is probably well known around these parts, but let me also chime in. These are indeed very nice nodes; if you can grab one for a good price, doo eet! Signed: another happy active user of an AMS VPS bought two months ago

While that is true, I still keep netstat around because I consider the way ss formats its output awful; especially when you use the -p option. You can get the old tools back by installing the net-tools package, btw; at least in Debian 10 that is still the case.

Ah, Scooter, lol. I didn't even know they did anything like that. Anyway, let me continue a bit off topic to make a little more fun of them. https://youtu.be/5DXuU4mN5MA

Asia is not the target for my current projects. I suppose that means it would have been better if I refrained from making my first comment altogether, but I was feeling giddy. The law of the country and political stability might be interesting things to think about when it comes to hosting in Malaysia, but this is also…

A little bit more detail for those interested... This is where the error is coming from: https://salsa.debian.org/installer-team/netcfg/-/blob/1.172/static.c#L592 https://salsa.debian.org/installer-team/netcfg/-/blob/1.172/netcfg-common.c#L1668 It is not that having a gateway on a different subnet would not work, it is…

Unless you've already solved the issue in a different way, here's something you can try. After digging a little bit deeper, I discovered that it seems to be a simple case of the Configure the network step doing input data validation where it requires the gateway to be from the same subnet. I believe the following is a way…

They are. Then I see I was just restating what was already obvious to you. This is indeed odd, I've never run into this myself. Just out of curiosity, is this IPv4 or IPv6? As more of an offshoot, what I did run into was, for example, that FreeBSD does not like it at all when the gateway is in a different subnet (at least…

I have never needed to do this myself, but here's what I would try. * In the Debian installer boot menu, start Expert install (Advanced options -> Expert install). * Go through these steps (some of them will not be visible until you complete the previous ones).* Detect and mount CD-ROM * Load installer components from CD *…

The newer version looks better; but it makes no sense to me to have multiple columns for a blog format which only has one timeline. However, I would not be starting a riot over this. What I hate to the point of having to keep the expletives in though are the animations. Again, it's a blog/news feed, not a corporate…
