This thread has become the server equivalent of offering a few people a chocolate from the huge box you just opened and finding that the buggers ate every last one apart from the coffee creams!

Isn't this the machine he's getting rid of though?

Also some drives wrap round at 65536 hours.

Now I know you're the real Nekki. :D

Maybe your IP address will be better than your uptime! :p

Can none of you guys read instructions?
-
Or to spin it another way - they send emails, the only information they have is your email address. So, the other way of saying "nothing was leaked apart from your email address" is "every piece of personal data we were entrusted to look after was leaked".

I mean, it's pretty obvious that you've only just started this game. Like "hey, the price for this says 3 months" resulting in the page being quickly edited. The "yearly" 1 month deal having 8 times the RAM for half the price which was a mistake and going to be removed, the lifetime hosting at a price that's like the price…

Don't forget "multi-homed IP transit". I'm now imagining a residential ISP line and a 4G phone backup.

Just as some pointers, one of my two London Oracle Cloud ARM instances is 140/8, and my recent storage VPS from Interserver was 206/8.

Really good point. Lifetime deals make a bit more sense for aggregated resources…

Even worse... https://www.officialdata.org/us/stocks/s-p-500/2000 $450 in the S&P in 2000 would be worth $1832.94 today. You wouldn't quite get that if you took out $1.90 a month, but it's clear putting the money in the stock money seems like a good move. Besides, think what the VPS specs you could get for 2 bucks 5 years…

Your company has only been here and on OGF since July. How old is the company? How do we even know the company will last the year, let alone 5 or 10 years? The only way this could sustainable operate is if your operating costs AND profit were less than the interest of the principal you got from each customer and invested…

Maybe you're just unlikely, or maybe this is only in their Canada data centre, or maybe they restricted your bandwidth due to overuse. My BF KS-LE-1 still gets good iperf results, but it only really gets used for admin tasks like hosting my internal mail, git repos and CI so doesn't have a great deal of external traffic,…

Don't suppose you happen to know how long the offer is running for? If I signed up now, I probably wouldn't use them until nearly the end of the trial period!

If your $1/TB is manageable then I would stretch to 4TB. I've no idea what the tax rate would be, so ideally $1 including tax, but if it's not too high I also might not care. However, I think all the data I have, if de-duplicated, would be 6TB, including data I don't care about at all and I currently only back up off-site…

My gut feeling would be to we wary of WD Red+ as the older ones weren't apparently not clearly labelled as SMR. This link claims the drive is CMR, but my suspicions are still high on it!

Yeah, I suspect several people who only want to use borg would be happy sharing an IP address. But it would be good to have a shared IPv4 as not all the servers I want to back up have IPv6. I'd be interested for borg, but I'd probably only need 1-2TB, so I'm not really in your target demographic anyway. I'd maybe take more…

I dunno, but I guess this one is mine (actually GRA not RBX): OLD KS-01 Atom™ N2800 2c / 4t 1.86 GHz+ 2 GB DDR3 1066 MHz 500 GB SATA - Not Available Not Available €9.99 €3.99 ~ €4 Either that or they've already ungraded it and it's this one: KS-01 Atom™ N2800 2c / 4t 1.86 GHz+ 4 GB DDR3 1066 MHZ 1 TB SATA Not Available…
